Anyone else tried this stuff?

I must say I was a bit skeptical when I picked it up at the drug store, but now I have used it two times when I felt a cold coming on, and both times, it really seemed to work a treat. The first time, I still got a bit of a cold, but it was very mild and passed quickly. The second time - just this week - I woke up with "that feeling" in the back of my throat and started using the First Defense. Still had a bit of a sore throat when I woke up the next morning but no other symptoms, carried on using it. Then the third day, I woke up basically fine, except doing quite a bit of throat clearing. Fourth day, nothing.

No it's a nasal spray thingie. From what I gather the way it works is, it's not a medicine, it's some sort of a gel that essentially surrounds the rhinovirussy bits so they can't continue to take hold , and also it stimulates your nose to produce more snot so that you then push them out of the body. So basically, it doesn't 'cure' a cold, it just stops it really digging in and setting up shop. I

I don't really know anything about this swab thing you mentioned so I can't really compare them; perhaps though it is similar, I have no idea.

I have to disagree on this. I found that it didn't do anything for me other than make my nose sore for a few hours. I tried it for a few times but I still developed a full blown cold.

Also when I primed it (for my very first go) the spray shot out with such force that it sprayed on my plaster ceiling and left a greasy patch that I'm going to have to paint over.
