Or at least it looks that way.
I have a handful of black tops that are still in good shape and suit my figure, but that were getting a bit faded from washing, you know what I mean? so I got some black fabric dye to freshen them up a bit. Followed all the directions, no problem, tops are now in the washing machine rinsing.
So I take off the rubber gloves I was wearing to keep the dye off my skin, and my right thumb is BLACK as a gorilla's. I look at the glove, and see that there's a teeny, tiny little pinhole at the tip. I've washed and scrubbed and washed and exfoliated and lotioned and it is still black black black.
Fuckin hell, my hand looks so diseased it ain't funny.
thats funny. Me and my girlfriend were looking at ways to get hair dye out of her hands the other day.
Firstly you should have applied barrier cream to your hands.
I found this too...
-liquid hand soap or dish soap and abrasion with a scrubby pad
-Reduran (stinks to the high heaven, but those who use it say it works). This is a high pH hand cleaning paste. Available at Dye supply shops.
-any lye soap with high pH level (10) works similarly to Reduran.
-several people said they notice that washing their hair in the shower or washing dishes also accelerates the removal of dye from skin.
good luck

Man, I thought you were serious for a second, Peachy.
Maybe try some sort of scrub? I use olive oil and sugar as a homemade scrub. I think some folks use oil and oatmeal...?

Maybe I'll just sing something soothing to mask her screams of agony.
"God Give Me Strength," or something like that.

Look on the bright side -- you can be a very convincing Civil War vet for Halloween. (y)
But how will you ever churn butter again?

I don't know how your daughter can look at you...;)
But seriously maybe you'll just have to shed the skin over a week or so......in the mean time explain away to people as a experiment in Henna gone wrong...:)

How does a black thumb affect gardening? Does it mean you're, like, really great at composting?

So like a few days ago, I ripped a nail pretty badly - on my ring finger, not my thumb - whilst we were out and I pointed out to mr.p the next day that it was sore and a little infected. Not a big deal or anything, I just mentioned it to him in a conversation. So tonight when he came home, I said to him "Remember the other day when I told you I thought my hangnail was a bit infected?" and he said "yeah". Then I held out my mingin' black thumb and said "well it looks like my finger's all going a bit black now, do you think I should go to a doctor?"
Man, you should have seen the look on his face.

I got henna tats on both of my palms a few years ago and as it faded away it looked really bad. I was on the bus on my way to work and some guy called me poo fingers. :(
