and Os Mutantes is a fun combination of psych and bossa nova

that's all i know.

start with "Wave" by antonio carlos jobim, and then get jao gilberto / stan getz album "Getz/Gilberto." seriously. get those before anything else

Here's a pretty good Ultra Lounge compliation (http://www.amazon.com/Ultra-Lounge-Vol-14-Bossa-Novaville/dp/B000002UH7) to get you started! I put this album on and get that cocktail shaker out... Love me some bossa nova.

Indeed. That's where it all begins. Add to the list Stan Getz.

Joao Gilberto's daughter, Bebel Gilberto, is also making some really good contemporary bossa nova.
