Will the Beastie Boys attend the Grammy Award ceremonies in Los Angeles tonight?

Are the awards that the Beastie Boys are nominated for (Best Pop Instrumental Performance-"Off the Grid", Best Pop Instrumental Album-"The Mix-Up") part of the show or are they pre-announced categories?

Will they win and does anyone care?

Did Nathanial Hornblower get an invite?

tune in and find out!

If Horovitz plays defense they could easily win this one. Take the Open Shot!

I read that only about 10 categores are awarded during live boardcast so I guess Best Pop Instrumental Performance and Best Pop Instrumental album are not one of them. But the other categories will be streamed at grammy's site (www.grammy.com.).

Yeah, it won't be in the live broadcast -- but great to know about the streaming, thanks!

I can't wait to see if, during the live broadcast, they do one of those "earlier this evening" montages where they scroll through stills of the non-aired winners. And there's the Beastie Boys, clenching trophies, winning their obscure artistic off-the-air award . . . trippy.

Did you think they'll attend? I mean, I wonder if this award means as much to them as it does me...

lol, this thread reminded me of this interview (http://youtube.com/watch?v=bVb4I1l_p74)
in wich matt stone and trey parker said they were upset that when they got the emmy for southpark, their category wasn't on the main show but on ''crap night'' and they didnt even attend, after being misled the first time they got nominated ahahah. so my guess is, since their categories are on crap night, the boys wont show up (they're not media whores anyway... and they're not performing so i guess they wont be attending tackiest awards of the year, but i might be wrong :D)

I can't remember all of the details but I do have a foggy recollection of an interview where they were asked, if they recieved a nomination for such-and-such an award, would they attend the ceremony. AH said something like "depends on how easy it would be for us to attend.... like if it was happening in NYC that wouldn't be hard for us, so maybe."

Just seems unlikely to me (you know, cause I talk to the BB all the time:rolleyes:) that they would want to sit through that long ass program esp when their category is up in advance.

Seriously! I mean, do they have any idea how time consuming it is to be a (creepy) fan. Why just this week alone I've had to panic over a non-issued pass word, race to get buy my ticket before the scalpers, book my flight for Langerado, look for a hotel, sort out shuttle to the festival.... fit in a couple of hours of CC and AIFST. Not to mention that I still have to finish ironing my cats' outfits for tonights Grammys.

(yes, I'm kidding about the cat's outfits...)

I like where you're headed with this. Where would the choir come in tho? Gratitude? I think the young fella who started Let it Be off would have done a fine job w/ Netty's Girl.

EDIT: OK, I just finished watching. Awww. RIP, Robert Palmer. What a classy showing there. It's crazy how well I remember that year. :(

my favorite part is after Mike says "And the Grammy goes to" when Hurricane plays PE's Timebomb from his boombox and the Boys start dancing for a few seconds. Hilarious!
