per a-z's advice, name your favorite flower. then name your least favorite for the hell of it.

my favorite was always the ones my mom had in the front yard that would always bloom right around my birthday for only a week or two

they had these really long stems, probably 2 feet tall and had these orange flowers on them and i dont think they had any leaves or anything on them

As a kid, I really dug our snapdragons and liked to make puppets out of them.

snapdragons are my favorite as far as gardening goes...

Mmm, a tie between vivid colored roses (you know the orange-red ones, costco always seems to have gorgeous colored roses, weird) or orchids.

I like the way stargazers look but I cannot stand the smell for some reason :(

Maybe for least favorite I have to go with dandelions. Not because I really don't like them (except that they stain), but that if you
have dandelions in your lawn you have to really deal with it.

A weedy flower I do like is Queen Anne's Lace. 1) You put them in the wind or you blow on them and the seeds take off all pretty,
and 2) It was actually my grandma's favorite flower, hands down.

when i was a kid we used to eat queen anne's lace b/c it tasted like licorice.

favorite flower: my favorite flowers are the hot pink garden roses i planted last year. not only are they really pretty, but i worked hard to keep them alive.

yep, those are my real knockout roses!

least favorite is carnations BY FAR. they are so boring and unimaginative.

did you know that the ants are the only way petunias can pollinate? they help each other out!

My favourite flower is the Black Baccara Rose (http://www.gardenersworld.com/plant-detail/PL30001491/2/hybrid-tea-rose-(bush-rose))

The colour is so beautiful and they look like velvet. I had them as my bouquet when i got married.

I also like gerberas (http://www.iflorist.co.uk/c-157-gerbera.aspx).

I can't think of a flower i dislike...i'll get back to you on that one.

I don't think I've ever seen those before.

Damn! If you had to design a "fun" flower from scratch, that'd pretty much be it. (y)

i love daffodils. i love them so much they make me very happy.

i dont really dislike any flower but my least favourite would be tulips. they kinda look fake.

i also love yellow roses. but not as much as daffodils.

I like those flowers found in "wild flower" mixes

I guess they arent all the same, but the ones that flourish here always include bachelor buttons, red clover, and those really really flimsy poppies that are always so pretty.

I hate marigolds. hate em!

This is tough. I really like lots of them. For scent, I love Lily of the Valley. For looks, I love orchids (as I've just said in the other thread). I can't really think of a 'least favourite'. Well, I seem to recall there is some big-ass jungle flower that blooms once every few years and smells like a rotting corpse, so I'll go with that one I guess.

It's actually called a Corpse Flower (http://www.tropiflora.com/creport/cr17-1/6398-2.jpg). They just got one at Berkeley (http://www.berkeley.edu/news/media/releases/2007/07/images/titan.jpg).

I think my biggest favourite garden flower is iris, especially bearded iris, and as dark purple as possible! :D
In bouquets I like tall and simple flowers, like Irish Bells and callas, or extremely romantic in pinks and
lilacs and whites and pale blues.
My favourite wild flower is bluebell.
I like just about all the Campanulas, have quite a collection of them in my allotment.

Also I like bleeding hearts, fuchsias, forget-me-nots, sweet peas, paeonies, poppies, delphiniums,
echinaceas, lion's tails, eryngiums, astrantias, lilacs, helleborus, daylilies, moonlilies, madonna-lilies,
lupins, foxgloves, hollyhocks, clematis, wisterias, wild violets...

My least favourite flowers are usually yellow and/or belonging to Asteraceae-family (like daisies and asters...),
but there's loads of exeptions there as well...

not so much 'flowers', but what i do appreciate is a bit of imagination when it comes to a bouquet. i've received bunches before with thistle or part of a cotton plant (http://images.encarta.msn.com/xrefmedia/sharemed/targets/images/pho/t045/T045035A.jpg) included in the arrangement. cotton is pretty badass.

Wildflower of the British Isles

One super duper interesting feature is that the opposite pairs of stem leaves are joined together forming a cup in which water collects. It's very pretty.
