Bring home the bacon originates from way back when. Only rich people could afford meat so when they got some bacon they would display it outside by hanging it up. So bringing in money turned into bring home the bacon. On a side note, people would cut off bits of these pieces of bacon and chew on them while having guests over to socialize. FACT: "Mind your P's and Q's" originates from the 2 guys that invented the alphabet. When writing out lowercase p's and q's they had to go below the line they were using to make sure all the letters were straight. So the guy said "Think they'd mind the p's and q's?" The original term was "Mind your p's, q's, g's, y's and j's" but that just got too confusing.
