View Full Version : Lost Odyssey
If you're even remotely into role playing games, you owe it to yourself to play Lost Odyssey. For the skeptics, give it a rental. The game will evoke sad emotions throughout the story. It's excellent. But I'm pissed that the American packaging looks like it was thrown together overnight because of a late deadline. There are three discs on top of one another, then the rest are in these flimsy paper disc holders. Much like you'd find in a PC game.
Yeah, even the guy who headed up the development (I should know his name because he INVENTED Final Fantasy) said that the story was his main focus. To deviate from traditional battle systems would be detrimental to the storytelling.
I am sick of random battles but I'm going to have to Gamefly this one.

Whence to which platform are we hitherto referring to henceforth?
(I should know his name because he INVENTED Final Fantasy)
Hironobu Sakaguchi is his name, and he started up Mistwalker.
And KP, it's for the Xbox 360.
I'm not ashamed to admit it. I have cried on more than one occasion playing this game. Just now, the tears were flowing down my face watching a particular scene. Good god. Hironobu Sakaguchi has accomplished his goal with this game, to evoke sad emotions from its players. If you can cope with crying periodically in the game, then you must play this game.

I like Wii tennis.
Just kidding. Not much into video games these days but since we got the Wii I am addicted to Mario Galaxy and Zelda: Twilight Princess.
Pretty much the same two games I loved when I had the original NES as a kid.
This game is not for everyone. It's a traditional turn-based RPG, but the storyline and the writing is so well-executed, this could be the next Final Fantasy VII that brings together all walks of life. When I say it's not for everyone -- if you can tolerate fighting battles with random encounters, then you'll like it.
More people should have the thinking to expand your horizons beyond Mario and Zelda. Even if it's a game you would never imagine playing in a million years, you may get something out of it, be in insight or compassion. As I type this, I can't expect everyone to understand me. Yeah, I was raised playing RPGs, but I believe, through the thickness of the battle system and leveling up your characters, people can enjoy Lost Odyssey.

Well I'm sure people who are really into videogames do "expand their horizons" its just not that important to me.

but i must admit that commercial with white rabbit playin in the background was pretty koo
i'm curious about it, but i pretty much never ever finish RPGs, so i'm hesitant to spend $60 on it. i liked final fantasy 10, but every time i try to play it, i get stuck on the same boss battle; the jerk has this attack that turns everyone in your party into zombies and then he casts life on you, which kills you instantly. and before he does that, he casts haste on himself, so you have no room to react between the time he casts zombie and life, it's an instakill and it's gimmicky and annoying and according to gamefaqs, i needed to grind a bit to get abilities and spells that i didn't have yet if i wanted to beat him.
there's nothing like that in this game, is there? outside of the gimmicky instakilling boss battles, i really liked FFX
Well, those are standard RPG battles, Bob. You should always level grind when you're stuck on a boss, but in Lost Odyssey, I don't know if it helps too much. Anyway, yeah there is some of that. Still, the game's storyline and writing is going to make you feel depressed and sad /all the time/. Man, I'm not even exaggerating. I have never played a game where it made me cry at many points of the game. They're like well-crafted emotional scenes, and are designed to make you feel sad. In my case, fuck, I shed a lot of tears. I fucking couldn't help it, man. Maybe I'm a softy.
