yo cosmo not to get too serious but i think you should know some information about my "99 cent downloads" .....

everyone knows that anybody who really wants one of my mixes just has to go to beastiemixes where i have them all for FREE...and also anyone can record them right off of soundclick if they have half a brain...

Also......there are plenty of people in the US and overseas that have spacemacs remixes in their itunes library...on their ipods.. and tell me that they "like to bump em in their cars" ... i have been told numerous times via email and via IM by "fans" (and i use that term loosely) furthermore, there are even a few posts on here of people who report enjoying some of my remixes and owning many of them....And none of them have had to buy them from me......so at the end of the day I still havent made any $$$ off of there - so it really is a non issue despite what you may imagine ...

anyways thanks for listening to the jam - i think you liked it but sure?- and of course i encourage your feedback even if you are calling me a greedy scumbag lol -jk

*****just so you know i originally charged 99 cents just to discourage people from downloading them..i wanted to share them but didnt want people to rip off some of my beats...eventually after being asked numerous times i finally caved in and joined beastieremixes ( u can even ask Silence himself i was not into the whole idea of joining up at first and was one of the last mixers from our geberation to join) ...even then he thought i was being difficult actually - but its not like im making all this money off soundclick dude trust me...

and my songs had been dowloaded a ton of times from there way before they even had the option to charge people

Pretty cool, laid back, nothin wrong with that. I gotta agree with Cos' about the .99 download, it put me off:o But that doesn't mean much:p You gotta do what makes you feel the most comfortable sharing your stuff.

LOL. You didn't even upload this mix to BeastieMixes, bro. And as far as charging ppl, 99 cents to "discourage" them from downloading and stealing your beats is a bunch of crap: you can EASILY make the songs non-downloadable WITHOUT charging 99 cents. Believe me, i know you don't have piles of money from this. But the thought that you are actually WILLING to take that dollar from someone is crazy. IMO, you turn those ppl. who DID pay 99 cents into "suckers". Even if it was just one or two. And by saying that you had all your mixes on soundclick BEFORE there was an option to charge 99 cents is even worse. Seems like you didn't care too much about ppl "stealing your beats" until you were able to charge 99 cents.

IDK, Sorry to be like that, Spacemacs, but this has ALWAYS bothered me and others(behind closed doors) and nothing was ever said. I had totally forgotten about it and I didn't expect this topic to come rollin back around again. But it did.

Check out the last post. Please, TRY to explain? LOL. Actually, any explanation that you give will be unjustifiable. Sorry.

I AM WILLING TO RESPECT THE FACT THAT YOU THINK PEOPLE SHOULDNT PROFIT FROM THE ACAPELLAS - THAT ARGUMENT IS VALID- AND I AM OPEN MINDED FOR DISCUSSION - AND IF OTERHS HAVE ISSUES WITH THIS THEY SHOULD JUST TELL ME- INSTEAD OF MEETING "BEHIND CLOSED DOORS" I HAVE ALWAYS BEEN AN APROACHABLE MEMBER ON HERE - AND I BELIEVE THAT I JOINED BEASTIE REMIXES VERY SHORTLY AFTER THAT POST WHERE SILENCE RAISES THE ISSUE - so i have been pretty flexible and willing to share all my mixes historically ...

BUT SOME OF WHAT U SAID IN YOUR LAST POST IS JUST STUPID BECUASE BASICALLY ALL OF MY MIXES ARE AVAILABLE FOR FOR FREE SO DONT TRY TO NIT PICK THE 1 OR 2 THAT ARE NOT CURRENTLY ON BE BEASTIEREMIXES MAN - ESPECIALLY ONE I JUST POSTED HERE YESTERDAY i will add this remix lke all of my others to beastieremixes -

ALSO im not putting a gun to peoples heads ! if they wanted to pay 99 cents then they can do so...im sure they would like the oppurtunity to state whether they are "being turned into suckers" or not...

but let me echo the fact that just doesnt happen dude ... im not selling any...and now ythat i know it has put some people off it surely wasnt really worth this headache.......but untill the beasties make a statement on here that they are strongly against this then i am comfortable with it so far...

u are on your soap box and all but i just disagree - its up to the remixer to do what he is comfortable with - and its such a non issue because people dowloaded all my shit for free long before anyhow - trust me

i have been told that there is some japanese bootleg with one of my mixes on it - im not crying about it..i dont even have proof but eiterh way it is expected when u post your stuff online

im not even aware of whether or not silence makes any profits or gains by hosting his sight...i have seen that he has banners and advertisemsnts on there..is he profiting somehow ?? im not sure...i dont really care either way to tell you the truth...

OH My.....

Let me give EVERYBODY the rundown right here and now...

July 2006 I Love My Little Rooster Contest. (http://beastiemixes.com/contest.htm)
$372.00 For prizes and shipping to Denmark and Norway
You can see my receipt for the shipping towards the bottom of the page here: http://beastiemixes.com/oldnews2006.php

October 2006 Halloween Contest (http://beastiemixes.com/contest2.htm)
$100 Gift Card to Amazon.com

December 2007 Christmas Contest. (http://www.beastiemixes.com/contest3.php)
$150 to Make-a-Wish Charity in the winners name.

Hosting and domain names for 4 years. Approx. $500, if you want an exact number I'll have to look it up, I believe that's a low number.
4 years of hosting and three domain names beastiemixes, beastieboyslive, and icemixes, (Icemixes expires this year) the others are good til' 2011.

Shoutbox, $20 (The only page with an ad on it. besides the 404 error page)

In the next few weeks or so I'll be dropping another $50 for a new upload script, why? Because it makes my life easier, NO, because it will make your life easier being able to upload 20 tracks all at once if you choose to, doesn't improve my life at all, that's just $50 I no longer have.

coming home every night and checking for new mixes BEFORE I do anything else, can't really put a price on that, but a lowball webmaster makes about $50k a year, Webmaster/Web Designer makes a lot more. Hiring someone who will live and breathe for your site, and promote it everywhere he goes??

I can take the site down tomorrow and have lots more money in my pocket, and more free time than I know what to do with. I might actually have time to spend with my Family and Girlfriend.

You can see EXACTLY how much I've made so far on my ads all over the site, (2-ads, one on the shoutbox page, and one on the custom 404 error page)

I'm pretty sure this goes against Googles terms of service but fuck it..

CLICK HERE (http://beastiemixes.com/images2/othersites/adsense1.jpg) and then CLICK HERE (http://beastiemixes.com/images2/othersites/adsense2.jpg)

I will be taking down the 2 ads I have, on my approximately 98 page site tonight after updates. Heaven forbid I make $39... (Which I have yet to see 1-cent of yet)

I've put a metric shitload of my own money into this site, If I really wanted to make money, I'd replace all of the DJ headers (That I spent my time making) with giant banner ads. Wanna download a track, click this ad to be re-directed to your download, wanna get hosted, $50 for a lifetime of hosting. The ads were NEVER there to make money off of the mixes, only to MAYBE recoup something, anything I've dumped into the site.

If ANYONE wants more proof that I've made absolutely ZERO from the site, please feel free to contact me here or at my site.

Spacemac, do what you want with your tracks, I really don't care, however I will say that you are in the very small minority when it comes to charging. I visit a few other forums where the big-time players hang out, and I've never seen anybody charge for tracks. It's the unwritten rule.

----------------------
Ads are now gone from here (http://beastiemixes.com/shout.php) and here (http://http://beastiemixes.com/404.htm).

Spacemac, I really don't want you to think I've got some beef with you, I don't, and I will gladly host your mixes until the site ends its run.. I do however have a problem with anyone who thinks I'm somehow getting rich off the sweat of the DJ's backs.

I didn't start the site for the money believe me, I started it to give back to the guys who I'd been leeching tracks off of for a couple years, The old school guys, Uru-Nitro, Chromium05 (may he rest in peace) ;) nYgel, DJ Zap, Innuendo, etc etc.

I put my heart and money into the site everyday and it bugs me that someone might think that I'm using the DJ's for my personal gain somehow. I've lived and breathed Beastiemixes for two years now and for somebody to come along and cast doubt on my intentions burns me. It just happens that this thread almost begged of you to ask the question about if I'm making money from the site. And I completely understand that it might look like I could have.

I also know talk is cheap on the internet, but I can honestly say I haven't made a dime, and have put out a lot.

What you do with your tracks is your own business, and I'll respect that. Agree to disagree.....

Can we now be one big Beastiemixes Family again??? :)

GROUP HUG!!!

No need to get in a tizzy, for sure. I DO think, though that making any profit off of tracks using the BBoys pellas without their consent is very close to theft in my opinion. If you make mixes using all original stuff, then by all means sell them if you can, but I'm pretty sure the Boys did not give us their material with the idea of us turning around and making money from it (even if it's just a teeny bit, it's the principle of the thing).

GROUP HUG!!![/QUOTE]

im down to get back to remixing - i wasnt the one with a beef in the first place so im cool

and if beastie fans cant even get along then what is this world coming to?

" visit a few other forums where the big-time players hang out, and I've never seen anybody charge for tracks. It's the unwritten rule. " - I DONT EVEN KNOW WHAT THIS MEANS - AND ACTUALLY A FEW OF THE MORE POPULAR MASH UP ARTISTS SELL THEIR PRODUCT - so i still disagree with this romanticized notion of "unwritten rules" - anyways you guys are good people so lets not argue anymore...

lets all group hug and all that and get back to remixes ...okay
:)

ONE DOWNLAD - $.99
COST OF RUNNING A REMIX SITE - $1,200
JUSTIFIED RANT FULL OF RIGHTEOUS INDIGNATION, FOLLOWED BY A HEARTFELT REQUEST FOR RECONCILIATION - PRICELESS;)

Spacemacs

If you were charging .99 so people won't rip off your beats you might as well forget about it. Unless you think your beats aren't worth more than 98 cents the price tag isn't much of a deterrent. I'm not trying to diss either, I love almost all of your remixes and would be really sad if you didn't share them anymore.:)

Big Fan

good point Big

i know it doesnt make sense - but i even have beats that i wont post cause i dont want someone to bite (my private stock) i guess some delusional part of my brain thinks i need to save them for something bigger ...

anyways thanks for the support !

i hope to make a bunch more remixes pretty soon - and they will all be FREE ...FREE AT LAST - LOL
