For every "Haha" I get, I kill a small child. Seriously, my basement is a mess.

well, I think maybe it's because the person wants to acknowledge that they got your text?
I'm guilty of "k" texts. also, "omg!" texts. :/
oops.

im not a big fan of the "haha" but ill take a "haha" over an "ok" anyday.
also i bash the elderly. theres less sport in that and im quite lazy. catching the children has always been a problem for me.

My work establishment picks up the cell tab so I'm very guilty of plenty of tiny texts especially to my boyfriend.... consisting of "muah" "You're hot" "love you" and the like. I think he's got unlimited textin so it's all good. But yeah if you've got X texts a month and then you get charged 10cents for every lil "K" and "OMG" that comes thru.... I hear ya.

its the person who sends it that gets charged. its not about the money. the business pays my bills. i just hate the clutter of "ok" texts. i wish i had someone to send "x", "mwah" and "love you" texts to.
maybe if i hook my dog up with a fone i could do that. but then shed only send me back texts sayin wheres my fucking dinner bitch?

i use "ok" and "haha" all the time, it's a way to acknowledge a text without contributing, thus ending a conversation you don't particularly care to continue.
people just texting "omg" need to die though.

hahah, that was funny
So it isn't about the cell charges, you just get annoyed by extraneous communication? Interesting.

Why would you get annoyed at someone for confirming that they've read your message? I get annoyed if I'm asking someone to meet me somewhere or something and they don't reply, why the hell would it piss you off if they did?

Because I have to check my phone mid-jerk and I always explode mid-Ha.
I get annoyed when you text someone to ask a quick question and they reply with the answer and another question/ start off a full blown text conversation. For me, texts are simply a case of either - 'I'm too busy to talk or I'm stopped at some traffic lights or I can't be arsed fully catching up'. If I wanna chat I'll just bloody ring you!
Oh and the ok text is a bit annoying because
a. I've just wasted effort to get the phone out of my pocket, unlock it, open the text message and then delete it for you to just say 'ok'.
b. You've just wasted 5.5p on each letter.

i hate using texts as a replacement for calling someone. i only use them if i need to ask someone a quick question and can't really talk for more than a minute like at work
i won't send more than 3 messages to a person in a string unless i am really really bored at work

omg!
if you heard me say it in real life, then you could think of what I sound like when you receive the text and then it becomes funny. ohmegad

I far prefer a text to a phone call. It forces the person to keep the communication concise and to the point. (i.e. "ok")
Compare to phone call "...Ok. Oh and hey, by the way, I had a hamburger for lunch and omg my mom is buggin and blah blah blah..." (20 min later you finally get off the phone)

Some people do reply me with OK or similar, just to confirm they got the message.
Sometimes when they send me a message and I don't OK back they call and ask if I got the message....
I usually text only when I know either me or the recipient can't talk at the mo or I need to send a message about
something that don't need immediate attention.
Or thanking for the weekend so I can write p&k (which I used to hate, but it's become a standard in my phone vocabulary... ;) )

my thought process is that a text message is last onthe importance list. if they really need to reach me they should call, or if its really that urget you should just come and find me. thats why it bothers me to no end when people spend so much of their time whenwith others texting someone else
