i don't know how many of you guys have heard about this, but my home was destroyed in the tornado that came through arkansas earlier this month. my parents' business (they own a retirement mobile home park) our home were destroyed. my mom was hurt really badly and almost killed, and we don't know what we're going to do. we've met with fema and numerous other organizations, and we don't qualify for any kind of federal help.

here (http://www.geocities.com/sunnysouthtornado) is a little page that i made up to show a couple pictures that i took of our house and the mobiles in the park.

i was just going to see if anyone was interested in donating anything. even $1. my parents don't even know that i set this up, but i'm hoping that i can get enough donations to help get back some things that were lost/destroyed.

thanks so much.

shit, i had no idea. the story about your mother was pretty heart wrenching, she sounds like a really selfless person and i hope she recovers soon.

my mom got her stitches and staples out a couple days ago, but her front teeth started breaking off the same day. she has good insurance, but it's not going to cover the work that needs to be done. i'm so upset about all that has happened, but more than anything.. i feel terrible for my parents. my dad had a heart attack when i was 11 years old, and his health has gone down since then. he's too old to get another job, which is why he just managed the mobile home park. my mom works, but it's definitely not enough to make back what they'd need to rebuild our home and their business... and support the family (4 horses and a dog).

Ahh, crap. That'll depress the shit out of you. You might be able to fetch some decent money for the horses maybe, but I don't know how attached your family is to them. I'm real sorry, I wish there was something I could do for you guys.

we've raised all of the horses since they were babies except for one. we've had her my whole life, and she's 35 years old. she doesn't have teeth anymore, and she's so old that it's hard work to take care of her... and i know there's no one else who will do it like we do. we might have to get rid of them, but even if we do it's not going to be to get money. it'll be because we can't afford them anymore.

Oh my god, melanie. This is unbelievable! I am so sorry, I can't image going through all of this. Those pictures...wow.

Wow is the word. Thats the only word I could think of when I was reading that page and looking at those pictures.

Kinda makes the problems I'm having at the moment seem incredibly insignificant.

I hope that within a year or so things will be more on track and positive for you and your family.

not to be a jerk, but i can't believe how fast this fell.

i'm not asking for sympathy, but i am asking for you guys to repost this:

My family was greatly affected by the tornado in Gassville, Arkansas earlier this month (February 5, 2008). It destroyed my parents' business and our home. Please take a look at this website if you are interested in what happened or to donate $1 (or whatever you'd like) to the relief fund: www.geocities.com/sunnysouthtornado

if you're a member of other message boards.. or on your myspace.. or whatever. i'm just trying to get all the help that i can for my family. please take a minute to do that for me. thank you.
