DDD, you might want to try an Irish style pub. They might serve them. If you do find a place that has them, they might be served warm, even though they're supposed to be cold.

And while we're talking about food, maybe one of you Brits can explain the popularity of pork pies and peas? I've tried pork pies, and they're really gross, and peas...do you have to put them in EVERYTHING?

i think pork pies are pretty gross. i hate the cat food-like inch of jelly the big ones have on top of the meat /barf.

trust the scottish to get a boiled egg, cover it in 'sausage' meat and roll it around in breadcrumbs. you don't want any of that mini scotch egg shite. the ones with the mushed-up scrambled egg in the middle. no no. you want a fuck-off whole boiled egg. GET IT IN YER! (y)

Obviously i don't eat scotch eggs, being a veggie and all, and i've never seen veggie ones in the supermarket. There are recipes out there though so i'll have to give them a whirl.

I was just about to ask if there was vegetarian variations of these...
Maybe instead of sausage meat you could use quorn or somekinda soymeat from the Asian stores... they do look and taste funny tho.
Guess they're for those who need an easy introduction to vegetarianism, but for me those are a real turn off...
