Since the summertime, I've noticed my nose is all crusty. Not from snot, but the skin around/inside my nostrils is literally flaking off. The only thing that seems to help in the least is vasoline or a shit-ton of lotion.

I've brought it up to my doctor- thought maybe it was some sort of nasal yeast infection (gross, I know), or a vitamin/immune deficiency (I'm a hypo and look up all things whatever possible)- but no. So she referred me to a dermatologist.

Dermatologist couldn't confirm anything either, except that it's simply dry skin and to apply creams, etc.

Anyway, now my mother is experiencing the same thing. It was shared not too long ago that the people who lived in this apartment before us had a bird, and apparently, the bird caused mold. Our landlord assured us the mold has since been taken care of, but I decided to do a little investigating on my own and discovered our entire back porch is covered in it (it's growing on our back door, around the windows, blablabla- and it's DEFINITELY not moss, either).


Yeah.. So now I'm freaking out. We're kinda stuck as to what to do 'cause our landlord is a retard/will most likely deny there's a mold problem and won't pay for people to come in, and we really have no other place to go that would allow responsible pet owners.

Dude. Are we gonna die? Has anyone experienced this sort of thing before?

I get the dried out sores in my nose sometimes too.
It happens in the winter when the heater is pumping.

Maybe try putting a pitcher of water in your room close to where you sleep, it'll help put some moisture in the air.

I'd say look at the law and see what the landlord's responsibilities are regarding mold. Most places say that black mold can cause a house to be condemned, so if she doesn't want that, she's gotta take care of it. You'd be surprised how fast landlords act when you threaten to bring the law to their doorstep. My old landlord didn't want to take care of a LOT of stuff that he was required to do so by law...so finally, we got sick of it and threatened to report him. He KNEW he was in the wrong but was hoping we were just some pushover kids who wouldn't know what the law was. Once we showed him that wasn't the case, he knew he had to start taking care of shit, or face penalties/fines/condemning.

I'm prone to psoriasis and my nostrils always dry up and tear at the tops. It's only ever a small tear but it really hurts.

Just rub some vitamin d rich ointment into it.
