Does anyone even use dial-up anymore?

Seriously. Other than people who live in Alaska or something, I find it very hard to imagine that someone out there is still waiting to connect to the internet and listening to those fax machine sounds...

Seeing an ad for NetZero promoting cheap dial-up got me thinking. Why in the hell would anyone even consider signing up for dial-up internet in this day and age? I think I'd rather just not have it at home and use the library's access instead...

True, I realize that people in the good ol' state of Alaska probably do have high-speed internet access... but it was all my feeble mind could churn out when it started thinking of remote locations.

until last year yes. i couldn't afford a modem or the connection fee.

my parents still have dialup. i wish we had a phoneline at home so i could use my parents dialup whenever we get shaped, cos its a hell of a lot faster than shaped internet :mad:

my parents have dial up. poor guys live too far in the country and they don't have high speed available to them. i hate using their internets.

^See my parents have dial up too and it seriously makes no sense because they live in the city. They have called all the different companies to get them on DSL but I guess they were told they live in some small patch area where it's not available. I don't understand that! AND they still use AOL!!!

If I want to go online at home, I use dial up.

Which is the main reason I never go online at home. :)

my friend steve uses dial up still. he lives down by the river. he gets really angry when he's trying to sell or buy stuff on ebay.

We have to use dial-up sometimes to regression test on the project I am working on, it's so funny. R2D2esque
