ya i was very suprised. the effects do look the shit. i might even pay to see it. but probably not.
RD jr. should be banned from playing super hero roles. i just dont think he has it in him. but i could be wrong.

that looks much better.
I liked the first trailer, until i saw it with my girlfriend and she burst out laughing when Ironman came lumberingout of the cave in the prototype suit with Black Sabbath booming, then I realised how goofy it looked.
This looks fantastic.

Yeah, that first one was pretty iffy.
I hope they don't go overboard with the jokey shit, too. I didn't much like him just happening to crash back at his own pad (so to speak).

Very Exciting! I saw it during lost last night (stopped fast forwarding through the commercials to watch it). It looks much better than that first trailer made it look. It went from, "what the hell I loved Iron Man, I'll go see that shit" to "Holly shit, you can't keep me out of the theater with a robotic suit that flys and blows shit up!". Very exciting. Downey Jr is perfect casting of Tony Stark and hes gonna kill it. Very exciting.

Nice YouTube clip at AICN (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/36391) -- an actual scene from the movie.
I likes, I likes.

Cool.
I'm considering this for my son's first movie. He loves superheores but I don't want to take him to a movie with allot of gunplay and violence.
My dad treated me with Hollywood Nights & Halloween as some of early movie theater experiences.

I think it's straight up PG.
When I was, um, ten, I just laid my money down to see 10. That and When a Stranger Calls were my first R rated movies. If I'd waited for
my parents to go, I'd still be waiting.
No wait -- my mom went with my sister and me to see The Amityville Horror. I think that might've been a year earlier...?

I'll admit. I was pretty skeptical about Robert Downey Jr. in this role at first, but after checking the trailers out, he looks great! It's taken awhile but I actually kind of love that dude.

You might want to check out Kiss Kiss Bang Bang if you haven't seen it already.

What was the first thing we saw him in? Seems like I already knew who he was when Less than Zero came out...

Weird Science?
No I haven't seen Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. I wanted to when it came out, but I kind of forgot about it.

Yep.
I saw Kiss Kiss very reluctantly because I have sort of a hard-on against Shane Black. I was blown away.

Robert Downey Jr is the shit.
THANK YOUUU! yes he is!
Hopefully his presence will dilute the strong whiff of cheese that usually surrounds comic book licences.

awesome, well i just watched tonight it based off your recommendations, and i got to say, i really fucking loved it. one could probably argue that at parts it might have been a little too clever for it's own good, but i didn't care. really, really had a great time watching it. thanks for the suggestion! One of his greatest roles. And the film is freaking funny too.
