A friend of mine (who is from the Chicago 10 generation) and I were a the movies last night, the trailer came on and he said, "You know, the sound track for this is supposed to mostly be the Beastie Boys and Public Enemy." I've done a cursory search for a soundtrack and haven't found one, but the links that do pop up mention: Beastie Boys, Rage Against the Machine, Eminem, etc. I'll do a more thorough search later, but figured I let ya'll know what I go so far.

I'd seen the trailer before and thought that this was a must see for me because of the topic, and the way the mix new, old and rotoscoped footage (a la "Scanner Darkly", "Waking Life", "Take on Me", etc., but now it's been sweetened that much more.

3. Fighting Side Of Me, The ~ Merle Haggard
4. Moonlight Becomes You ~ Harry James Orchestra
5. Kick Out The Jams ~ Rage Against The Machine
6. Down The Street ~ Rage Against The Machine

There's a clip from the movie with Sabotage being played. Go to Mic-to-Mic for the link. This film is going to r-o-c-k!

thanks for the info -- i'm interested to see the film.

all due respect to sabotage, but i'm skeptical of how all that anachronistic music will gel with the footage. personally i'm a big fan of era-appropriate music in films, because music evokes emotion & memory better than most anything else. that's especially true of the chicago 10 era, when so much music of the day was tied up in the peace movement. (unlike the current war era! watch my feet, watch my feet!)

Yeah and frankly, I'm getting tired of Sabotage. It's the feature in the new Rock Band and Guitar Hero and Chicago 10 and, on and on and on. It fits the clip well (not historically so), but I'm tired of hearing it.
