i got a text from my mum's ex-boyfriend saying "good morning. don't forget to wish your mom a happy mother's day. she expects your too busy to remember so it would be a nice surprise".

which annoyed me on a couple of levels.

first, he is a consultant orthopaedic surgeon, so he should really be able to say "you're".

second, yah, i know it's mother's day, and of course i was going to call her without you first prompting me to do so! now it looks as if i'm just doing it because you commanded me. and also, i've known the woman for almost 25 years and she has never given a flying rat's ass about the day (yes yes - i know it is a nice excuse to tell your mammy you love her regardless of the occasion), but now i am wondering if she thinks me aloof and cold-hearted because i would be "too busy" to "remember". agh! CHEERS MA DEAR!

he should know how to spell mum tho...!

i can see why you're annoyed, given that you're an adult.

my niece forgot to wish my sister a happy mother's day and she was quite upset. being that she's a typically self-centred 17 year old, i am not surprised :(
