I'm hearing about some explosion early this morning at a military recruitment station in New York City...

hope everyone is okay in the NYC region...

NEW YORK (CNN) -- Authorities are searching for a man on a bicycle as a possible suspect in the Thursday bombing at a military recruiting station in Times Square, investigators said.

The blast, around 3:45 a.m., caused no injuries, officials said.

A witness and an officer at a police substation just steps away from the recruiting office saw a man riding a bicycle, Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said at a news conference.

They did not see the man's face, but he was wearing a backpack, he said.

The bomb consisted of some kind of "low order explosive" contained in a military-style ammunition box, Kelly said...

I wonder if someone'll try to bomb that Marine recruiting station in Berkeley as well.

Some eco-activists just burned down a "green" mansion because it didn't meet their standards.

A student at the University of California-Davis is in custody after authorities say they found explosive devices in a dorm room.

A spokesman for the UC-Davis Fire Department says 400 students in eight dormitory buildings were evacuated around 9 p.m. Wednesday
after getting a report from a woman who reported students with possible explosive devices in room.

Police say after questioning four students they arrested 19-year-old Mark Woods, a freshman from Torrance. He's being held on
suspicion of materials with the intent to make an explosive or destructive device and other charges.

Authorities say a bomb ordinance team was assessing the room where the explosives were found.

Keep an eye on that story, there's something very suspicious about those arsons considering the houses have been sitting stagnant and costly for the contractors for some time now

I wonder why someone would use violence to "protest" the military....if anything the perpetrator is the type the military would like to join them

Wanna hear something weird,

Being in town for the Beasties show at Terminal 5 yesterday, my friend and I walked right by that little thing in Times Sq.
In fact we even commented on it, I said "Oh hell yes Times Sq. needs it's own Police Substation."

It was a weird feeling to hear about this news this morning.

WASHINGTON — Police are investigating letters that arrived Thursday at Capitol Hill offices containing a photo of the Times Square military recruiting office before it was bombed and including the claim "We Did It."

The manila envelopes contained a photo of a man standing in front of the recruiting station, according to a Democratic aide who spoke on condition of anonymity because the matter is under investigation. The photo was the kind commonly sent as a holiday greeting card.

The message on the card: "Happy New Year, We Did It."

The envelope also contained a packet of approximately 10 sheets of paper that seemed to be a political manifesto railing against the Iraq war and a booklet. The aide didn't know what the booklet was.

The letter was sent to at least eight congressional offices, FOX News has learned.

Postal inspectors were at the Capitol investigating the letters alongside Capitol Police, U.S. Postal Inspection Service spokesman Douglas Bem said. He had no details about the letters' content. A second law enforcement official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because the case is ongoing, confirmed some of their contents as described by the Democratic aide.

The Associated Press obtained a copy of an e-mail from the office of Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., to other lawmakers Thursday that reads:

"A few offices on the House side have received a letter today addressed to 'Members of Congress' with a picture of a man standing in front of the Times Square recruiting station that was bombed in New York today with the statement 'We did it.' He is standing in front of it with his arms spread out and he's attached his political manifesto."

Authorities advised the recipients to leave the letters alone and call police, the e-mail says.

The man was thin, white with graying hair, wearing a striped flannel shirt and jeans, according to the Democratic aide.

Sgt. Kimberly Schneider, a Capitol Police spokesman, said she had received media calls asking about the letter. She said she had made some initial checks but had not been able to confirm reports of the letter.

The small bomb caused minor damage to the New York military recruiting station before dawn Thursday and police were searching for a hooded bicyclist seen on a surveillance video pedaling away.
