I am looking for inspiration - i got a few fiction books for chrimbo but cant get into them and was thinking of getting some sort of music biography and wondered if anyone had recommendations or if you just wanted to talk about some good ones then post here.

I have read most books about beatles (Shout by phil norman is my fave) and all books about the stone roses ( Already in me is the best one). I've read a couple about tupac and biggie but cant remember what they were called:o
I hear Antony kiedis book is a good un.

Anyway, recommend away.

Mystery Train (http://www.amazon.com/Mystery-Train-Images-America-Fifth/dp/0452289181/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1204828282&sr=8-2) by Greil Marcus.

Great book.

"Images of America in Rock and Roll Music."

The focus is on Elvis, Randy Newman, Sly and the Family Stone, and the Band, but there are also short chapters on Harmonica Frank
and Robert Johnson.

Great, great book.

Mötley Crüe wrote a book.
You don't even have to like the band to enjoy it.

I've read a couple of the unauthorized Led Zeppelin biographies. I forget what they're called. I think you have to take them with a boulder of salt but if you're a fan its still a fun read.

Yes! I kept wanting to say Heavier than Heaven but I think that's a Kurt Cobain book.

Dude, I love the Rheostatics. Saw them up in Victoria several years ago. They wouldn't play Baby I Love You even though the guy I was with at the time and I had decreed it "our song".

They're fantastic...If I had a buck for every time I've seen them or the Hip I could...well....I could spring for a really nice pub lunch!...last year they came to town and played 4 shows over 4 nights and every night they played a different album completley in order just like it was released...very nice...(y)
