Okay Beastie friends,

As some of you know, I own karaoke. As some of you know I work at a high school here in Vegas.

They're doing a "Teacher Talent Show" for a fundraiser tomorrow night and I got the headline spot. It was hard choosing a song, because...

1) It has to be school appropriate
2) Something I know top to bottom, front to back (no kareoke screen)
and
3) Something high school kids will know/like/enjoy.

I wanted to do a bboy track, but couldn't fine one that fit all the criteria.

I decided eventually on House of Pain's Jump Around. Fits the criteria and I'm able to do it solo pretty easily. I've been searching all over the internet for a good instrumental version. I've got one, but it would be MUCH BETTER to have a kareoke version with the "Jump Jump Jump" backing vocals.

It's been really hard to find. I've downloaded a bunch of shit that don't have the backing. I've found some with backing that sound like a fucking midi file with retarded people singing.

I need a good kareoke version. I found this (http://www.ikaraoke.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Karaoke.woa/4/wa/iKaraoke/showSongs?sku=JTG148&wosid=Oi175Cq3OfeDmra0xbzAb0&r=-264598666) but they don't sell the individual track. Not really wanting to spend $20 on this.

Anybody HAPPEN to have a kareoke version like i'm looking for on the comp?

Go Beastie Boys!!!!

I hope you find what your looking for but I have to tell you that when I started reading this, I immediately thought of Open letter to NYC as a good song choice. I realize you will be in Vegas performing this but it could have some positive meaning to the kids and Open their minds to whats real in NYC. Just my 2 cents.

But Jump around is cool too. I made them play it at my wedding. We went off!

Is this like a Student v. Teachers type of talent show?

Because if it is, you'd better not do "Jump Around", man.
You want to let the kids win.
Poor kid'll be all like..."I HATE MR. PSHABI, HE RUINED MY LIFE, I HAVE NO TALENT"

Hahahaha,

Naw, it was more of a "talent exhibition." It wasn't a competition at all. The student council was trying to raise some funds to decorate the prom and shit and asked me to rock the mic. You know me....MUCH OBLIGED.

I rocked that shit tonight, btw. Off the chain. The kids all rushed up by the stage and were jumping and "go go go"-ing. It was in the school theatre so it was an actual stage and shit. Very cool. They all had the cell phone cameras out. I was rhyming for the cameras, slappin' hands, acting a fool. Hopefully I'll see some video soon and share it. I knew it was gonna be crazy fun, but damn.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at.
That song is pretty much guaranteed to tear the roof off the place, 'specially with HS. aged kids.

I'm glad it was a success.

I want to confirm that, much to my surprise, Karaoke Phil was not only the best karaoke I've seen, but he was surely the best opening act the Beasties ever had. (y)

Damn, I forgot about the dog show, and I saw it twice!

Your act was shorter but more intense. It's a close call.
