Ok, so just wanted to let off some steam and hopefully also start some discussion.

I was just walking the dog and on the way back there were 4 kids just hanging about listen to music on a phone.
It was similar to this sort of stuff (http://www.happyhardcore.com/images/news/20080312/rfu010a.mp3).
I fucking hate this sort of happy hardcore bollocks.
I am a big fan of proper house, good electronic beats that are
good to listen and to dance to, but this crap isnt fit for either.

Plus a lot of people at work like it, I dont know if this is just a northern thing, but at lot of the stuff they listen to is live gigs that have "MCing" on.

If you dont know what i mean it'll some young lad from bolton or whatever
going "1to2to3tothe4, Yes to the man in the ice cream van, move your fookin feet yeah" at about a gazillion miles an an hour.

It just sound like someone with tourettes after an amphetamine binge. Doesnt get my party started.

Its like acid house never happened, i just think its a shame that there are kids going out wasting their energy
and chemicals (probably) on this shit when there is loads of BETTER stuff they could have a good time to.

That feels a little better. Anyone disagree?

Just put down some music you hate (genre or band) and why and see what happens.

That is bollocks. Are you sure they were listening to that sort of thing? No self-respecting youth around my area would be seen dead listening to that shit.

it was similar - there's a lot stuff where its happy hardcore versions of pop tunes and rap tunes speeded up a million times, the kids round here love it. My wife bought me The mix up for my birthday last year from HMV in bolton and she said it was really hard to find as there was only a small section of hip hop and rows and rows of happy hardcore stuff like "Bonkers" and loads of live stuff

Dance music in general. Especially that euro shite made by some german in his bedroom.

I hate the beats, the stupid lyrics, the chavs that listen to it, the speeded up chipmunk voices, the same old videos, same sound effects. There is no emotion behind that kind of guff.

Guff, guff, guff - made by and for complete wazzocks (n)

I don't get all of these clone rappers that are popular for a milisecond.

I can't even remember their names but I see their videos on tv all the time. They all sound and look the same, they all have the same paint by numbers videos. Seriously, who buys the albums that rocket them to number 1 for a week or two? Who could possibly enjoy the same recycled (sometimes completely lifted) beats over and over?

I don't get all these kids who play this retro Led Zeppelin type rock and think they're doing something new, dressing retro, etc, acting like they've re-invented the wheel or something.

The Killers
The Hives
The All American Rejects
Wolfmother
Red Jumpsuit Apparatus

Their music just all f-ing sounds the same. Like a record exec. had one band record 200 songs and handed them out an albums worth at a time to 30 different bands and said,

"Here's your next album, now get your ass down to the thrift store and buy some clothes, and grow your hair exactly to your shoulders, but not an inch longer, you don't want to look like a hippie! "

My favorite Electronic music (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bFgUV44TTpY) (Skinny Puppy)

At least if people are gonna rip music, they should be CREATIVE (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TO-z_LVuI3Q) about it.

Maybe I'm just getting old and can't appreciate the younger generations copies of music from my day...

Hahahaha! :D(y)

Your post made me laugh and feel ever so slightly wistful for the days of my youth. I too hate happy hardcore, but some of the best nights of my life were at places with a MC like the one you mentioned. Whistle Posse, watch yer bass bins/hardcore you know the score etc etc

Big Gus knows what i'm talking about (y) God, i feel old.

yeah, wolfmother is a total led zeppelin rip off but...

this sounds like led zeppelin?! (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSbGur1dz9k) don't get me wrong i fucking hate that emo whiny bullshit... but i doubt their influence is led zeppelin.

each of the bands you listed have different sounds. the only ones i like are the hives (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bjY0dU0yELk) and the killers (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=l1p_NHFd8jM). who also sound nothing like led zeppelin.

i think its ok to hear the "mcing" live and if they are having a good time then cool but if they are just gonna stand on a street corner listening to it on a phone there is no need for mcing.
a lad at work often sings the mcing he's heard on cd's with a few mc's like "big up your breasts lets have a contest"! Awful!

I've only just realised you wrote this. I'm from Bolton. I don't live there anymore but you are indeed true!

'There I was sitting in a tree, chewing on a drug called X.T.C'

'Booting about in my vauxhall nova, in maccy dees carpark skidding all over'

All that shite.

they're everywhere-when i walk my son to school i hear all that shit on the older kids phones too-fucking h20 and basshunter and the usual mainstream bollocks bullshit, unimaginative fisher price shit. And then there's the market for warbling boy bands and r&b drivel. I hope to god my kids have decent taste-i'm gonna nudge gently-if i try and get them into things i like too much they'll probably rebel and kneel at the altar of fucking ne-yo or some crap. my eldest allready likes nevermind and demon days-hope he keeps it up-and of course he shows an interest in bb's coz i witter on about em so much.

My daughter seems to like the music we like so far! She regurlarly gets her groove on in the car to the Chemical brothers. But i know if i dont just let her listen to anything and restrict her to stuff i like it, then it will probably backfire massively.

Ever use this line for a pick up "Squeeze me macaroni, slop your face with my bologna"
It works better than or as a singagram on BJDay
