I'm not particularly fond of gimmicky rap. Especially 80s throwback gimmicky rap. I think they're alright, but they also get on my nerves a bit. If they just wanted to make 80's themed rap, that'd be one thing, but they're a little too aware of their own influences.

i clicked on that link, on the strength of the one song it had up there, "black mags", i downloaded their "instant classic mixtape".

i like it. it does have an updated licensed to ill feel to it. the beats hit hard. they sound like something pharell would do. heavy heave basslines. it would definatly do the trick if you wanted to give your car speakers a workout. i havent listened to the lyrics to closley yet, but i never assumed they would be the next lyrical masters of the mic. they are a fun group for a party or if your just in that kinda mood. check it.

those guys are pretty young, they're just monopolizing on the popularity of nostalgia. the kids these days, they love the late 80's and the 90's. maybe because they idealize it. heck, sometimes I do. even though it was totally gross.

mickill threw me off about these guys at first by calling them "gimmicky rap".


but after really checking them out myself, they are pretty good. i like the hard hitting beats and the not so serious, but yet not corny, lyrics.


i got the classic mixtape. ill try the ep if it has new/different songs.
