I plan to buy one as soon as I can get some money together. I know it will be challenging to learn, especially being that I am only vaguely familiar with the guitar.
Do any of you play? What brand of banjo do you recommend for a beginner? I want something that's good quality and will be a good investment, but I don't want to spend too much. Maybe $200 max.
Also, would you suggest starting with a 4, 5, or 6 string?
Help plz. (lb)

5 string
try music123 (http://www.music123.com) for ideas on price ranges. just check around on the brands, because i got my horn from there years ago for a good deal and it ended up being a shit brand.

I'd recommend playing the 1-stringed banjo

I wanted to do this about 2 years ago. in canada anyways, its really hard to come by banjos in stores and they are FUCKING expensive.
you should get one of those 6 string banjo-guitars. then you can learn songs off of guitar players which are a dime a dozen among the male 22-30 set.
