What a pain in the ass this whole deal has been. The closing date being constantly pushed back. Having a different loan officer take my case and me having to resubmit paperwork that has already been submitted.
After 6 months, they tell me that I have been denied due to zoning complications. This is something they could have told me after the appraisal 5 months ago.
I'm staying at my apartment on borrowed time being that the original closing date for the house was supposed to be on jan 30th and my lease for the my apartment was finished in December but I made a deal with the landlord that I'll be moved out as soon as I get the house.
I'm actually glad to know I didn't get it cause at least I know for sure instead of worrying day by day. I think I'm just going to rent again for now. I don't want to go through the hassel of buying for a little while.

sorry to hear that...buying a house can be a whorebag. i had a similar situation a few years back with a house out in california...thats life (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rlhE3JoMMJI)
was talking to a friend the other night about how kickass it would have been to be a settler in the early days, homesteading, just looking for the perfect peice of land to settle on...the good ol days

it's alright. I actually lost hope after 2 months.
It lets me realize that I will never use the v.a. again for a loan. Sure, they protect your interests by being very strict and they knocked 45k off the price but, they take their own sweet time in doing so. No wonder the seller tried to back out when they noticed I was using them.

I have no idea how that stuff all works.
I think if I were ever going to own a house, I'd be off on my own land somewhere felling trees.

I took a brave step and put an offer in today. But it was rejected. Then I put another one which was also rejected. So I am going to stop for now. It's quite draining. Phew.

The house hunting/buying process was the worst thing I've ever been though.

I'm happy with the little one I've got in Ohio. Right next to the water, very peaceful.
I wasn't too thrilled about buying one in the city anyway. The prices are way too high. I was fortunate to find mine in JC, being a 2 family for 250k and after the appraisal it was knocked to 190k. I'll never find that opportunity again in that area.

You couldn't even buy a screen door around here for that. :D

Oh I can imagine. Pretty much the same way here. That's the only reason I was looking foward to this place.
