I think that probably, by definition, puts us in the realm of pop or R&B, but who knows.

I mean, Paul's Boutique is superb, but there's a good chunk of people who would be put off by rap itself or maybe the kind of
whiny, "obnoxious" vocals here and there.

Okay. So.

Does anyone possibly not like:

Moondance - Van Morrison

Graceland - Paul Simon

The Chirping Crickets or Buddy Holly - Buddy Holly

Rumors - Fleetwood Mac (except I don't know if a child would dig it)

If not for "Don't Call Me Nigger, Whitey" I'd probably put Stand! on there.

Thriller has too much filler.

Yes? No? What would you suggest?

I honestly don't think you could come up with one album that everyone likes. People's tastes vary too much. For example there are weird hill-billies who listen to nothing but bluegrass or aging lawyers who will only tolerate classical.

yeah, this is impossible. everyone hates something, someone hates everything and some people hate anything.

if i had to throw something out there i would say Creedence chronicles (greatest hits, i know), but if you hate that then you are an ass.

The 2nd Half of PG is Law is well.

IMHO it's better than the 1st half

TurdBerglar
03-26-2008, 04:15 PM
yeah well it's a harder listen. not as easy to grasp.

BangkokB

Agreed
In the Light starts out like a star that gets ready implode and then takes you on that journey
10 Years Gone and The Wanton Song are masterpieces
Nightflight has outtakes floating around on the intertubes

I once had an outtake of In the Light: JPJ was going for broke at the beginning. What I'd give for that again

TurdBerglar
03-26-2008, 04:49 PM
besides the wanton song and sick again, the remaining tracks(though just as good or even better) would be more difficult for someone to appreciate that wasn't into that type of music.

the first half is just great straight up rock. simple and technical at the same time.

ace of spades - motorhead

Too repetitive. It seems like they tried to make every song sound like ace of spades.

The Cars - The Cars

TurdBerglar
03-26-2008, 05:02 PM
well the whole album has the same sound but every song seems pretty unique in how it's written.

That's funny because I was thinking exactly the same thing.

You show me someone who doesn't like that record (Greatest Hits, I know) and I'll show you an asshole.

I always say that Physical Graffiti is the best Led Zeppelin album but people are usually like NAH SON THAT ALBUM IS BOLLOCKS LOL FUCK THAT SHITE

It's fun to get blasted at an english pub eh? Try telling them that Dead Kennedys were better than the Sex Pistols and put the stamp on what is punk. Then add that Fresh Fruit is better than...whatever their favorite band is

Then segue that into thrash is even better because they can play solo's where as Punk Can't

You'll really make some buddies then

I saw your sig so I had to say after seeing Budd Dywer last press conference:
hey man Nice Shot
Good shot man

Unique: No Filler. And he had the balls to try to get his wife appointed to his job after he said goodbye to himself

Robert Plant always sounds like he's strangling a cat while his own balls are being crushed in a vice....

I was always more partial to Revolver than Abbey Road... but theyre both pretty amazing.

Peculiar by The Slackers
and Strictly Rude by Big D and The Kids Table only two I can think of that I've made EVERYONE at work like... so maybe those.

No one can agree on any one album.

Maybe we could squeeze a Beatles collection in somewhere that most people could tolerate.

People don't generally complain when I put in Odelay.

Kick has a lot of good songs on it but there is some filler.

i don't think filler makes people hate an album though. as long as they like the good songs.

i'd rather an album of some good and some filler, as opposed to something in between with no stand out tracks.

Screamadelica - Primal Scream

Abbey Road - Beatles

The Bends - Radiohead

3 Ft High And Rising - De La Soul

these would be closer to albums i'd choose-i haven't actually heard most of the albums named so far-i'm quite shocked actually.
i'd maybe put white album in instead,
leftism-leftfield
that's about it-i think it would be near impossible, like padster said-tastes just vary so much.

Purple Rain - Prince
Parallel Lines - Blondie
Otis Blue - Otis Redding
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John
What's Going On - Marvin Gaye

They're not necessarily my favorite artists or favorite albums by these artists, but I think that these albums have broad appeal. Plus they all feature relatively conventional yet unique music/vocals.

exactly.

how about "Name an album you can't imagine anyone LIKING"

anything by avril lavigne. who in their right mind likes fucking avril lavigne!? i can't stand that girl.

another little rant.... speaking of hill-billies. when they don't listen to bluegrass it's some sort of metal or hard rock. why do white people like fucking metal so god damn much. seriously? do you see a black guy at a slayer concert? no it's a bunch of fucking rednecks.

I think Kick stinks. Personally, I can't imagine anybody not liking Thriller. It's pretty accessible.

Maybe Traveling Wilburys' and Marshall Crenshaw's first albums.

Nah. The more obscure you get, the less likely everybody is to like it. This is like the inverse of traditional Other Music pissing contests.

A Tribe Called Quest - Anthology.

I figured a best of, and i figured Tribe might be the most universally palatable hip-hop group. And i'm on their dick this past 2 weeks.

Purple Rain - Prince
Parallel Lines - Blondie
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John

Goodbye Yellow Brick Road is a great choice. I listened to Parallel Lines in the car yesterday too. Still strong.
