Some teenager tried to mug a marine with a knife in Santa Rosa a couple days ago. The 83 year-old warned him that he was a Marine, etc.
Kid brought it on anyway. The old man set his groceries down, kicked the kid in the balls, picked up his groceries and walked home.
Called the police.

Freddy Forsyth wrote a good novella called "The Veteran" about an aging SAS hero being mugged and kicked to death by idiots on an estate in London. It's very touching in it's irony.

Check it out (http://www.amazon.com/Veteran-Frederick-Forsyth/dp/0312983425/ref=pd_bbs_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1206734219&sr=8-2) if you've got the $8, it's not one of the best books ever but it's a real favourite of mine. 5 stories all beautifully told with real brain-bending twists at the end. (y)

hey that's my hood!!!!!! (quite literally...looks like it was only a few blocks from my house!) I hadn't heard about this ....but I wonder if it's the old guy I always see walking around downtown in his veterans gear. that would be cool if it was, cause I've talked to him before and he's a cool old guy. but if it's the man I'm thinking of he looks like a strong wind might blow him over. which would make the story even MORE rad!

I love stories like this. That is probably the best punishment that kid will ever get.
