Has anyone done this before? It's so stressful, work transitions, depending on friends to put you up for a while. Even learning yourway around your new area. It's a lot.

I just did this and yes the stress beforehand and for the first few weeks until I landed a job were pretty shitty.

The hardest part really has been leaving all my friends and my family. My closest friends I've known since junior high so it's just hard to go from feeling totally comfortable to constantly being around people you don't know very well. But it's getting better and getting the lay of the land hasn't been too bad.

Have you already made the move or are you just considering it?

Yeah I moved halfway across the country three days ago, but honestly it's been pretty painless. Then again I had a job and accomodations waiting for me, and started work the next day, which is probably somewhat atypical. I was also not very attached to the place I left behind (in fact I'm planning never to go back again), so there hasn't been much heartache involved either. And I own so few possessions that moving was actually rather easy.

In fact, it's been awesome so far and I think I'm going to have a fantastic summer. (y)

I moved to a different state a year and half ago. Packing and leaving my family totally sucked, and not having a job lined up ahead of time was very stressful, but none of those things compared to the level of misery I would have dealt with if I continued to live where I was living before the move. If you're excited about your destation, all the troubles you encounter will be worth it in the end. (y)

I was always excited to move away the times that I did of my own accord. (my mom and I moved across the country when I was a kid and that was awful all around for many reasons).

it's scary, but exciting. I know that it's pretty hard to adjust though. It took me about 2 years to really get acquainted.

I remember moving to CO at the age of 18. All on my own, just started driving west. Fell asleep in Nebraska and put a Uhaul half way through a corn field before I woke up. Got to Ft Collins and found out I didn't have aroom to sleep in. Had to fight it out with some other guy to get my room. Once I was settled,I was able to chek out my new town. Took me about a month to know where I was at. After that time, it was all good. Finding fresh herbs was easy.

it's stressful but make sure all your things and affairs are in order and you'll be fine.

I've moved waaaaay too many times.
