i think its pretty cool if the elephant is really painting as opposed to just doing it from memory- like the trainer *beat it into him/her. that would be terrible.

Elephants are very easy to train because they have excellent memories, so it's probably a little bit of both...Minus the beating part, hopefully. :(

I think it's mainly a memory process cause later on in the video, you'll notice a painting of flowers that some guy is holding and they look very similar to the flower the elephant painted.

Also I've seen other elephants paint and all paintings almost look the same from different elephants.
