Shine A Light (http://www.shinealightmovie.com/main.html)

Good God the Trailer for this exceeds even my expectations.
This is going to be better than seeing them live.

Special guest appearences by Jack White, Christina Aguilera, and Buddy Guy.

I saw the preview awhile ago and the Xstina portion kinda made me throw up, but maybe it wont be so bad.

I saw them live and Id be dead if I ran around as much as Mick does for 2 hours straight.
fair enough he takes oxygen hits mid-show as rumour has it, but still.

I'm going on Saturday with a group of my associates. All Stones fans.
Parking lot's gonna look like a Grateful Dead show.

So I guess Scorsese is wanting to return to his "Last Waltz" days of rockumentaries?

I dunno, I'll give it a try. It's got Jack White, and the 2 seconds of Aguilera writhing up next to Mick Jagger was definitely cringe worthy (he's HOW old, she's HOW young? ), but I guess that's Mick for ya.

It ain't no capital crime.

I hear if you "experience it in IMAX" and count all of the band members liver spots you win a free Volvo.

To be fair, I don't think you get Scorsese to shoot your concert by paying him, He's clearly got a boner for the Stones.

I'm sure he's sweating his ass off up there with all the dancing around and all the lights, but yeah, I have to agree that Mick needs to keep his shirt on at this point.

Whatever, what's worse, looking your age, or embaress yourself by getting a bunch of disgusting plastic surgery?

A man doesn't give two shits about plastic surgery.

A man doesn't give two shits about plastic surgery.

A man does, however, care a great deal for putting David Bowie's penis in his mouth.

Having Jack White on "Loving Cup" is a great idea. (y)

Well, I was disappointed. The set list was pretty uneven ("She's Hot"!? C'mon!) and most of the performances were kinda run-of-the-mill.
Yeah, Mick has energy, but he wasn't singing particularly well. Even most of the cinematography and the movie itself seemed uninspired.

C+, probably.

Seeing it in Imax obviously affected my opinion of the film. I felt like I was feeling the heat coming off of all the lights and Mick's endless energy under said lights was remarkable.
I thought the venue was fantastic and the setlist had some very nice surprises (Champagne & Reefer & Keef doing Connection).

I took my 14 yo. daughter along with me and I was blown away when I saw her singing along to Sympathy and I was thrilled when she told me how much she liked it as we all were leaving.

So yeah, I had more of a "connection" to it than most I guess.

^lol, what a jackass.

p.s. "she was hot" was the highlight of the set, also jack white should sing in his own voice, not mick jagger's voice.

I sat through the trailer a whole bunch of times at the IMAX theater because I kept seeing the U2 3D movie over and over. Parts of the trailer looked terrific but other parts made me squirm. I meant to see it but it didn't stick around long enough.

I really liked the production and feel of the U23D film where the "Shine a Light" did leave me feeling a little squeamish. Just looking over the sales figures for both films the "Shine a Light" brought in $12.5 million dollars on it's theatrical release as the "U23D" took in $16 million.

All the while Disney's Hannah Montana & Miley Cyrus 3-D concert film, still playing in many theaters since its February 1 release, has brought in over $60 million.

So the marketing angle of these films is to me as interesting as the films too. Youth marketing is where the money is, parents let their kids spend $$$ on simpler themes than sex, politics and old men singing.

same as it always has been

I wouldn't have known about the U2 movie except that my best friend is a huge U2 fan. I didn't see ads, and even when we knew it was here our stupid IMAX theater made it difficult because the showtimes were different every damn night. The movie was so unbelievably good and the theater was never full, it was sad. The Stones movie got a lot more publicity here. I swear I saw ads on TV!

I can't bitch about old people not going to movies because I'm one of them. I almost never see a movie in a theater anymore. I saw that U2 movie a bunch of times, but I think the only other movie I saw in a theater in the last six months was the Sex in the City one.

Sorry, but that song sucks. It sounds like it was written in about three minuyes, and not in a good way.
