The Ref's fake tan was worrying at the start and I thought he had it in for Utd but Ronaldo shut Roma up and when Rooney tapped the 2nd in after the early second half Roma attacks it was fucking brilliant to notice the Roma fans quiet and you could just hear Utd singing.nice shot of 2 Roma fans looking moody on the terraces after the game too(y)

Ronnie with a beaut as usual. A great result, I never dared hope for such a good scoreline. However Vidic's injury is nooo good news. The scan is happening pretty much as we speak so fingers crossed it's just a twist or mild sprain and not a proper hamstring injury or anything.
I love it how he wanted to play on. That guy is a double hard bastard (y)

Did you see how the referees wouldn't let Fergie go out of the technical area to chat to him? All Sir Alex did was nod briefly at Giggsy and he was up and running down the touchline to talk to Vidic. That trust and communication is beautiful, seeing that little exchange and Giggsy immediately taking charge filled me with pride for the club.

haha..what? he told a player to run down and find out whats going on and that filled you with pride? yikes. by the way, he nodded twice then pointed....
anyways, good result. Roma should have scored.
Let's see how Man U get on without Vidic. For all the talk of Ronaldo etc. the defence has been the really impressive thing about United, scarily rock solid.

He looked like fergies little errand boy. I wonder what it allures to once giggsy' legs have gone?

I dunno, there was something special in the brevity of Fergie's gesture and Giggs' immediate understanding. The respect and communication between those two is pretty unique. Fergie turned up at Giggs' mother's house on his 14th birthday to sign him and basically became his father. There is a connection there that you don't see much in football, or life. I love that club and those two are some of my biggest heroes.
He's quite protective of scholesy too. That's why scholesy dropped out of the international frame to make sure he could focus on his club duty. Come to think of it the Nevilles fall into it too. He signed Phil as an incentive to Gary or so I've been told. I like hearing things like that, things that don't focus on the money but trust, bonds and friendship. It reminds us of the little bit of humility left in the beautiful game (at that level).

The Nevilles thing is kind of true except they were both big in the youth team at the same time, being local lads and with Fergie's emphasis on trust and respect it was a natural progression for them both to get a go in the team. Scholesy actually pulled out of international duty and started to pull out of club play in order to spend more time with his wife and kids and have the summer off. Fergie was reluctant but agreed to start reducing his part in the team and look towards a replacement (Carrick, Hargreaves, Anderson). These family values and Fergie's onus on respect is what makes us the greatest club in the world. It's a family, not a business. (y)

Phil had broken all of Mike Athertons schoolboy Cricket records and was destined to play Cricket or to join his dad at Bury but Fergie persuaded him to stick with football and carve a career out with united.
