Great actor in some great films as well as waynes world 2 but i'm sorry all the gun stuff and that from what i saw he didnt appear to the greatest human being, i'm not that bothered.

I'm not a fan of the guy but to say he was not a good human being because he supported gun rights is a bit shallow.

It's everything i had seen of him outside of his films that i personally didnt like. I am just being honest. He didnt strike me as a particularly nice man, that is all. He didnt seem like someone i could trust, believe or anything like a lot of the characters he portrayed.

MSD gave an opinion and all you two said was its a dumb thing to say. Thats hardly an expressive argument. Why do you think its dumb? Guns are fucking horrible, i understand why MSD said that. I think it could have been put better but if you are gonna disagree with someone, at least say why.

i figured it was kinda self-explanatory and didnt need an explanation. regardless of how u feel about the war, would you call a soldier fighting in Iraq a coward? i wouldnt. some people NEED guns to defend themselves. im not talking about hunting or playing paintball.

thank you for explaining. I did say things could have been put better. I can see both sides of this one.

you're right my opinion is totally idiotic. i'm so sorry i said it. i'm gonna go buy a gun right now. they are great for killing stuff. i mean the purpose of human beings is to kill of course. how STUPID of me to disagree. LET'S ALL KILL! humans!?? fuck um! kill 'em all! animals!? fuck um! dumb things like that need to be shot with a gun! where's my beer! i need my gun! let's have a beastie boys message board meeting. everyone bring their guns. lets shoot at beer cans and then we can go kill some stuff with our new guns!

yeeeeeeeeeeeee haw!!

woah..Guns are evil and so are some of the people who use them but i think it was the fact that you made a sweeping generalisation about cowardice and guns and didnt take into account everyone who uses a gun that caused offence.

Regardless of whether you are pro or con the 2nd Amendment, you have to admit he was outspoken, he could carry a valid argument, and had strength in his convictions.

Yes he was extreme but you need extremes to meet in the middle.

If we get rid of the gun(thoe thats not possible) maybe we can go back to killing each other with the mase, rapier, war hammer or a nice arrow. j/k;)

on a lighter note...

Take your stinking paws off me you damn dirty ape!

I'm sorry, but when I heard this on the radio (on BBC radio by the way) and they described him as a legendary American actor, I thought "he's famous but he's always been a perfectly horrible actor" and then I felt sort of ashamed of myself. But I seriously will never forgive him for being in all those horrible epic movies that used to monopolize weekend TV when I was a kid (pre cable TV and pre VCR). :o

I remember Charlton being interviewed by Michael Moore in front of a huge portrait of himself in Bowling for Columbine. It made me laugh although I am positive that the producer picked the location and Heston was none the wiser. I think he had dementia at that point and it was kind of tasteless that Moore even bothered the old codger.
He parted the Red Sea but did not have the foresight to build a bridge.

RIP Charlton Heston

I'm neither a massive fan of his films nor of his stance on the right to bear arms, but I was very interested to read about his involvement in the american civil rights movement.

Oh, by the way, he was a big supporter of civil rights at a time when it wasn't fashionable. Very outspoken.

Plus, Moore completely ambushed him in Bowling For Columbine.

I heard that instead of burial or cremation,
he wanted his body to be processed and packaged
as a nutritional foodstuff.

after they pried the gun from his cold, dead hands.
