So this morning I was doing some volunteer work right. Basically we were handing out boxes of food to needy Senior Citizens. Most of the people seemed to truly "need" the help which is cool and made me feel good but there were a few people who rolled up to the pick up spot in like brand new Cadillac’s or SUVs with rims and sound systems in them. I just couldn’t quite figure out how they could afford to be ballin in these pimp rides but not buy food. I’m not sayin poor people shouldn’t have nice things but a lot of these people really didn’t appear to need the help. I especially felt bad once we ran out of boxes and had to turn some folks away. Oh well…what you fools think?

I've run two food closests and, yeah -- sometimes you get taken advantage of. Fortunately, I had carte blanche on the second one, and I'd
sometimes tell people "this is the last time."

We have family's in our center who double dip at any given opportunity...Christmas is the worst time, they actually profiteer by registering with multiple charity’s for food and gift hampers...actually taking some gifts to pawn shops or trying to return them for cash at the point of purchase…poverty and low social standing kills morality in my experience...and in one of my first jobs out of school I worked with this skid who used the food bank 4 times a year (the limit for a single, physically fit male in his age group)…firmly believed he was somehow entitled...I loathed him…

On one hand, I understand being in survival mode and hustling, but I would almost always reject it out of hand. One: if you give in to it,
it's almost like giving permission and training them that "this works" as a lifestyle, and Two: My ego kicks up because I'm insulted if someone
thinks I'm so stupid that I don't see the scam.

It's a shame when people take advantage of a charity...

Wait a minute... senior citizens were rolling up in cars with rims and sound systems?
Seriously? You must live in the coolest town ever.

^LOL...no it's not cool. I am stuck in Louisiana where 90% of the population is either extreme redneckish white trash or ghetto fabulous. This one old couple had llike subs in their back seat and a bunch of amps...

I'm with a-z, its hard to condemn people in need for doing what they think they gotta. Seems awfully "white" to me to have charity be conditional on good behavior. In an ideal world it would be nice if people were willing to leave enough for everyone, but shit it ain't no ideal world- if it was then everyone would already have everything they need. Seems to me to be part of the system, for good or for ill.

If I had the slightest inclination to believe the end result was they stashed away a little loot for the rent, the hydro or phone bill, tank of gas, whatever, anything to alleviate the base root of their condition or contribute to positive change,I too would say "fair play"...truth is their almost alway's skiving for smoke, booze and dope money...I've been in this profession long enough to see it time and time again...
