You guys sure do have a lot of states
We have 7, in the same geographical land mass size. Some of our sheep stations (ranches) are bigger than your states. We have one sheep station, I think its Anna Creek station, which is bigger than the whole UK.
Anyway in australia -
South Australia
Victoria
New South Wales
Queensland

australia is just waaaaay too big.
maybe the middle should sink into the ocean like atlantis. it can be the world's first donut-shaped island.

You're sort of on the right track. One of the largest lakes in the world is in the middle of Australia, Lake Eyre. Normally a dry salt lake bed, it fills 3 times a century and when it does it covers 9500 square kilometres.
Thats 3668 square miles!

crikey!
if everyone in australia congregated in the middle and jumped up at the same time, maybe it could happen. try it, mikizee.
