it's actually a lot easier to deal with that with a joystick. my tactic is just to spin around in a circle and mash the melee button. it does a decent job of keeping most of the zombies at bay while my teammates deal with the horde (which i think is what you're supposed to do: the special zombies are all about incapacitating one or more team members, so that the rest have to come in and save them. that's basically what getting slimed is). with a joystick all i have to do is hold left (or right) and press the shoulder button. it seems like it would be a lot more frantic with the mouse.

the game controls really really well on the 360.

I might have to try it just for kicks. I know someone who bought it for the 360. Controls just feel right with the mouse though. It seems like the melee action doesn't arc out as much as the 360's one. Usually when the Boomer gets me I can 180 and smack the zombies that just so happen to pop out of a doorway behind me. Regardless, it's a fun game and I always use the shotgun.

Chrono Trigger for DS. Added Artwork, animated cutscenes from the PS1 version (with NO LOAD TIMES), and an extra dungeon. Almost makes it worth $40 again.

My brother just brought around COD5 and Left 4 Dead, and I've got to say that COD5 multiplayer is actually rather entertaining. It's a bit annoying that you have to unlock better weapons, and it seems that most of the people that kill me are just sitting in buildings camping/sniping, but it's still fun to see me through the 'kill cam' as I spray bullets at the sky while getting my head blown off.

I'll try Left 4 Dead online tomorrow.

Thats why I didn’t like the multiplayer in WoW as much as Modern Warfair. I found myself being miles away from the action (especially on the larger maps) and in my futile attempts to get back in the thick of it I’d run past one of the millions of hide holes populated by ‘Captain Camper’ and get shot in the back.

Modern Warfair felt more balanced and I always felt like there was a gun fight to be had around every corner.

Its no surprise people are camping in world war 2 games. The popular weapons are usually the automatics like the Thompson but I think snipers like the Springfield is where its at.

Gamestop have announced Street Fighter 4 collector edition!

“Gamestop has revealed console specific goodies for the Collector’s Edition of SFIV (available February 17th, 2009). The PS3 package will include a blu-ray disc of the brand new Street Fighter anime (65 mins long), a CD soundtrack, hint book, “unspecified” downloadable content, and a limited Ryu figurine. The 360 version will include the same key items, the only differences being the HD-DVD version of the anime, and a Crimson Viper figurine. ”

anyone playing red alert 3? how is it? i kind of want to check it out but i don't want to buy it or pirate it, and i don't want to rent it for 360 because i wasn't impressed with the demo's controls at all.

I'm playing it to death at the moment, in between bouts of Civ4. It's got just enough of Red Alert 2 to keep it slightly nostalgic (I'm sure that's what I mean) and just enough new things to keep it interesting and FRESH. I was annoyed that the Russians don't get Tesla tanks, but they might be in a supposed add on pack. It's good. I like it. The new side, The Rising Sun, are pretty cool too, and have a real Death-to-the-dishonorable-round-eye feel to them. The blending of Kamikaze/Banzai and transforming robot demons is a real boon for the game.

The actress that plays Tany is completely crap and annoying, and delivers her lines with the enthusiasm of a brick falling out of a wheelbarrow, but the rest of the live action sequences are laughably bad in a good way.



Oh, and how are you going to check it out without buying or pirating?

I would say it easy, its just take effort really. You have to collect a lot of light seed/ blue orbs and basically do some combo with a side of defense during combat. But collecting orbs is what the easy trophy grabbing is at.

gaaaaaah I got 5th place! I really fucked up my first round and then I won that bout which was cool. But on the second one, the other guy really fucking brought his A game on. Dude, it was like Rocky vs Apollo. sigh, but it was fun! Really really fun day.

My GamerScore just passed the 8000 mark the other day. I'm pretty proud of that considering I've owned the 360 less than a year and I've neglected it so many months out of that in favor of the Wii.

I've been playing loads of Guitar Hero World Tour. It's just as good if not better than Rock Band 2.

i'll play online eventually probably, yeah. i'm still playing through the single player campaigns now, though. i'm having a really hard time with them. maybe i'm bad at RTS games, or maybe this one's just really hard, but i've hit missions in the japanese and soviet campaigns that i just can't seem to crack. i build build build so that i'm constantly out of money but the enemy still seems to outmatch me. i'm playing on easy, too :(. maybe i just need to use co-commanders better, i dunno

It's such a pretty game. Pretty hardcore too, so casual types need not apply.

So, this is news to me. Bungie has made a new Halo game. Halo: Rencor ...some shit like that.

Konami has yet to make an approach decision for a MGS5. But so far there has only been interests in the idea from the people involved with the previous MGS titles. Hideo Kojima said before he will contribute to the idea but will not direct it. Meaning its up to the co-director and writer of Snake Eater to direct the game. Will it bomb? FUCK NO. Snake Eater was popular enough and MGS4 was considered epic. Kojima is not the only guy for that credit, just as George Lucas isnt the guy in charge of every fucking star wars title in the market.


My only complaint about these two game creators is; If you say you will make the last game of a certain series, PLEASE MAKE IT THE LAST game installment. Seriously its annoying and I think its a market strategy to for gamers to buy them like hot cakes. Its cool that we get a another game coming, but really it fucks the mind by making us serious fans all emotional because it was one of those rides where we wouldnt wanted to end.

Mecha-nuclear warfare and terrorism i.e. metal gear and previous terrorist (why is it that they are usually the russian soldiers?).

MGS3 hands down top 5 game for the PS2, imo. No more Solids in the forseeable future unless you're counting the one for the iPhone, which is a side story or something like AC!D based on MGS4. The next "real" Metal Gear ought to deal with the fallout of the war economy and folks caught up in the vacuum of the lack of... leadership. Kojima is probably going to make another Policenauts or something since now he's got hardware that can handle it but he really ought to do another Snatcher title.

It has a random disconnect glitch which I've never been affected by, a health bar glitch that occurs maybe 5% of the time, and the ranked leaderboards are broken.

I only play player matches and it's piff. Re-balanced to perfection, pretty much.

I'm still eager for the release of this. Every thursday for the past 2 months has been pretty poor for the psn, it's like there is a demo famine at the moment.

Still hammering away at multiplayer Farcry2. I think I'm absolutely nails at it. The other night I played a team death match game and our team won. I'm at level 9 and the highest on our team was level 10 and the rest was made up of 2's, 3's and 4's. The opposition had two level 20's an 18 and a 17 and we looked doomed. I made 34 kills and resuscitated 9 players, the second highest was one of the 20's and he had made 12 kills and no resuscitations. Plus because of his level he had a grenade launcher and I only had a G3 rifle. Mint.

you should get it. the prices are going down now ever since they came up with the 120gb hardware and the 80gb down to either $350 or $400. Either way you can get the 60gb much cheaper. I have the 80gb hardware and its compatible with ps1 games (currently playing SF Alpha 3) and some ps2 games. Its awesome. Arguably Sony has the best hardware in the market and Xbox360 the best software. Damn, Nintendo has innovative ideas. Combine all 3 and wow you get whatever Sega would of made. lol j/k.

Playstation3 is great and I urge you to buy it. The cooler runs quietly and is well there other stuff that great but really buy it. If you want a run for your mullah get the 80gb. If not, buy 60gb or a 40gb.

Forget that! It's really good, everything looks better, it has an otherworldly sheen to the camera filters and you can actually GET OFF YOUR BOARD, which for me was one of the reasons why number 1 never got enough play from me. Also the character gets dirty and scuffed in collisions/accidents which is a nice addition.

Nah, it's just a more balanced version of Super Turbo (which itself was a seriously broken game) - the only broken character is Akuma (if you can't get close to him, that is.).

I still can't get used to the controls and I LOVED Resi 4 (although who didn't?). Next gen looks, last gen controls. It should have stolen from Dark Sector what Dark Sector stole from resi.

But honestly, they could have put some extra thought into how it would differentiate itself from the rest of the shooters w/o just succumbing to being like them and yet retain the sense of "detailed" combat that the RE series has kept.



Basically, you can run without using the x/a button, thus you're able to steer your character more easily using the right stick; and you can instantly equip any item in your inventory by pressing the L1/LT button without having to press the x/a button to enter the menu; and you can put your items to different slots by pressing square/x on that item and move it to a different slot.

Well, I doubt that. After all, No 4 rewrote it's controls and camera angle so I don't think Capcom are getting nostaligic over retaining this method.

Thats always been the case with cut scenes, they look cool as fuck but when it cuts back to in game the character always looks like a wooden counterpart (see DMC).

I found a pretty good deal on Guitar Hero: Aerosmith with the guitar ($34.99) for the 360 that I couldn't pass up, so I've been working on that recently. It's actually better than I thought, and an Achievement gold mine.

The girlfriend and I also went through Gears Of War 2 co-op recently...it's a far superior game than the original, if you ask me. I loved being able to pilot different things, and the plot was more fleshed out.

I also imported a DS game Nintendo put out in the UK... "100 Classic Books Collection". It's pretty slick...100 classic works of literature, and an empty "shelf" within the game that you can download new books to through the Nintendo WFC.

And the ol' GamerScore is closing in on 10,000. :cool:

I don't know, I actually think that is a good choice depending on how they go about it. The couple of times I have seen MMM and the Beasties live and they have doen Intergalactic, I have been really impressed with what MMM manages to bring to the table as far as scratching goes. I've got a live vinyl copy of a Hello Nasty tour set (phew) and he does some really .... exciting stuff.

I wonder how it will fit into the boundaries of being a game? Guitar hero is simple - hit the coloured buttons in time to the music to score points. So I wonder how it will work with decks seeing as that scratching is a lot more 'free form' and carries more variables?

You never know, they might actually make it a revolutionary piece of software, and it rates you for style rather than ability to hit a button in time with the music. Or maybe there just wont be a score or points or levels, and it will just be a kiddies turntable for your home console.

It's amazing to see what the PS3 can actually do when not constrained to something developed in the multi format.

Guerilla have really pulled out all stops in trying to match the target footage that they displayed at the 2005 (?) E3 expo.
I'd say that in most cases it surpasses gears 2 in the looks dept.

I doubt that it will show anything original but boy does it feel and look so good (y)

Hey, I don't play pc games so it is possibly best looking game that I've played. Besides there's a massive difference in playing something on an 42 inch LCD in Hi Def than opposed to a 17' PC monitor.

but yeah its stupid. Gamestop had made a tourney with three circuits events all using xbox controllers. stupid. PS3 controllers are way better. Not the best, but better for this type of gaming. Madcatz are gonna make more TE fightsticks soon from what i heard. Oh, the SE sticks are getting some minor problems with the joysticks getting stuck sometimes in some direction. I gotten mines and yes it is true but lately its not doing that any more. I guess you gotta wear it out a little bit to feel smoothly. My only complaint is that the rotation has only 4 points rather than 6 which is hard to know if I'm pulling a successful quarter-circle motion or not. I change it, it'll only ruin my warranty. :(

it is. I'm playing more with my PS3 controller than my arcade stick. Though, using PS3 controllers are kind of a cheat seeing as how motion play is more accurate. Mmmm but then again having six touch points on your A.S. will actually work the same. eh, both PS3 and arcade sticks are the same. I just gotta risk the warranty and add those touch points on the stick. they have standard 4. lame.

Started some Killzone MP last night, plenty of body count (deathmatch) for starters. Found it hard to not 'aim' (using the down the barrel view) a la COD whenever I saw someone. You have to get used to just straight up shooting.

Really good set up though, I like how you can choose your region (EU) and game. Didn't hear one single american dumbass (not that you all are) playing Akon down his mic.

I started The Last Remnant. The battle system is unique; you control your characters in several forms of armies, and you control them in a passive way. Everything sort of flows automatically. Also, I tried the Ninja Blade demo. I like it more than Ninja Gaiden.

I rented that too, it's such a broken game. You can actually complete it really easily by running through the levels, past all the enemies.

The boss battles are annoying too.

I wish FRD hadn't gone under so that I could be playing Battlefront 3. You can actually start from the planets surface on foot, jump into a fighter and fly (in realtime) into space, have a dog fight and/or dock into one of the cruisers. Now thats cool. Plus it had an evil Obi Wan concept character. Search for a vid of it in google.

Killzone 2 - I started playing this last night. It's hard to get used to the cover system. I'm used to doing a full frontal assault on enemies.

what can I say. Been playing street fighter 4 for the past month from 0 BP to 2000bp and over 1000 battles online with a 52% wining rate (means I'm getting better now). Ken now has become my main, Sagat has joined my roster and now I'm looking for another character for my team. Although my Gouken... seeing how that the people I've faced with me using Gouken, said it was the best they've fought a Gouken against but I'm not sure as there are some things missing and then there is Akuma but his stamina sucks. I think I might keep Gouken and Akuma under training. Rose is starting off to keep my interests so she might be potential to the team. From what I know, Gouken can do 15 hit combos with 4 Ex bars by just doing his specials and lp attacks over Zangief which takes down half his of life. Woah.

Killzone 2 MP is awesome, been nailing the bodycount mode quite a lot. I've been killed slightly more than I've killed but I love how random matches can be. Everyone feels like they are playing on a level field. Well apart from the high rankers who use rocket launchers on a small map all the time or the guy who was glitching out of the level and hiding behind our spawn point with rockets.

Plus I've found out that matches called 'beginers only' are usually hosted by a high ranker who's picking off noobs so he can pad his stats. Losers.

Yeah, it was a blast, man. Had a lot of fun playing it, especially when you and a friend have bluetooth headsets on. It feels like you're a part of a SWAT team, but communication is the key to success and enjoyment.

From Oichi reporting the stats in Japan's Top Players of the week in SF4

Here are your top 20 Japanese players in Street Fighter 4 for this week. Two weeks ago we were surprised to see that Daigo, who has been the top SF4 player in the country since the game’s release in July — except for one week — had been taken over by Mago, the 2D God.

Now it seems like Daigo has been taken over again, this time by another Sagat player, Ojisanboi. He shot up the rankings this week and is right on Mago’s tail for the #1 position. Here’s the interesting part though; yes, Ojisanboi did claim #2 fair and square, but if you look at the BP total for Daigo, it hasn’t changed since last week. Checking out his user profile, he hadn’t played a single match in the past week up until this evening. Either he’s been too busy with real life, or he misplaced his card for a while, which Mago mentions in his blog.

During in Japan they had it the arcades versions earlier than Americans plus even though in the US they had arcades last year Americans dont have that record match system for the cards - its only in Japan. I mean Mago had 50,000 maybe after 2 month of the release of this game for the arcade version and now coming from the PSN records the top points right now is around 33k I think the xbox players have more BPs than the people in PSN now. Either way its early.

Battle Points is never ending race its actually pointless. Any cheater can reach top BP of a network in the console version so its just totally better playing at the arcades or in a SF community.

This was recorded at the southeast major fighting game tournament Final Round, in Atlanta, GA in March 2009. This footage was the last match of a 2 out of 3 set, Kensou winning the first match, Liston winning the 2nd. The winner of this match also places top 16 out of 240+ participants. In this match, Kensou whiffs an ultra, and Liston executes an Ultra thinking that It would connect, but instead it whiffs, Kensou notices this after standing up, then proceeds to jump back on the stick to finish off Liston who's too busy celebrating to notice before It was already over.

To clarify: Kensou is on the left standing up around 2:25, Liston is the Guy in the brown hoodie standing up as well at the same time. At 2:26 Kensou is the one that rushes down back to the stick. Shin Kensou: "i thought i had lost honestly, and i got up laughing feeling that i lost it...but i saw viper dancing still so i did what you saw and well...the outcome is pretty obvious. a once in a lifetime thing indeed."

I bought it for the PS3 and found that it was another one of those suppositively 1080p games that is in fact an upscaled (stretched) 720 version. Same as FIFA 09 and Bioshock.
