I went to lots of formal dances in high school though I never had a date that I was really into. I went with friends when I had a date, only one of whom I was slightly attracted to. And it was usually more of an agreement in the group who was going with whom, I never had the typical guy you like asks you to prom thing. Or even guy you don't like. I don't think I ever got asked. :(

i think i was perhaps the only girl in my year who didn't go (but bear in mind i lived on a tiny island and the class was pretty small) to our sixth (final) year dinner dance thing.

i just did not find the prospect of spending £25 to spend an evening with most of my classmates that enticing. having to dress formally too, when they was practically no place on the island to buy a decent outfit. some people went to the mainland especially to get kitted out. others got their dresses custom made. fuck that shit, man! i wasn't being aloof or anything - it just really didn't appeal. way too much pressure was heaped onto it being a 'big deal'. i didn't see the point. i was at home, on the internetz. woot!

"american-style" proms are becoming more and more popular here in the uk. the whole limo-dress-date shit. it's only happened in the past few years. when i was in school we were lucky to get a dozen chairs shoved against the side of the assembly hall to sit on and pout.

Eighth grade was the last dance I went to, and it was mainly because I was class president.

Indeed. I have started seeing more and more 'classy' pink limos with teens hanging out of the windows.

In my day (i'm making myself sound decrepit) we were lucky to have the odd school disco in the assembly hall to mark the end of term which usually ended with a snog behind the bus stop outside the school gates.

Our prom was at the Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, which was about a 45 minute drive from where we lived. I don't recall an orgy. I just recall a lot of people crammed into a hotel room, girls complaining about sitting on the floor in their dresses and not enough alcohol to accommodate the masses. Aside from waiting in a longass line for photos, there's not much else to recall. Weird.

I went to a bunch of Proms in my day.
I have a lot of great memories from those days.

One year my two friends and I had soo many proms that we came up with this stupid idea to rent the tux's under fake names and just keep them instead of paying every time to rent them.
The tuxedo rental joint went to the girls' school with our descriptions. They figured out who the girls were who we went with and they threatend to not let them graduate if they didn't give us up.
We were banned from practically every tux place in the city after that stunt.

I remember we used to take pictures wearing our dates dresses after we got done "messing around" as proof that we had them out of their dresses and we used to see who could get the most pics.

We danced the night away then went back to her house to change for after prom. When we drove up to the party we both looked at each other and I was like "I don't wanna go in do you?" and she didn't....so back to her house we went where we cuddled on the back porch swing till morning. We had already de-virginized each other months earlier at winter formal and oddly enough we didn't have sex that night

It was so important to my one friend to go to prom that she went with this kid she barely knew that barely spoke english and thought that they were boyfriend and girlfriend at the end of the night. :cool: seemed like a waste of time to me. the boys I liked had girlfriends and I was so over being in high school at that point.

I did go the next day to Cedar Point (an amusement park) with some friends because that was the tradition. we had fun.

Fashiz. You couldn't have paid me to go to my own high school's senior prom. I was dating a guy at the time who went to school in a neighboring suburb, so I went to his prom instead. It was actually super fun because there was a lot less pressure since I didn't know many people, only a few of his guy friends that I had met when I initially met him. The dance was at some fancy pants hotel and I remember the food being delicious. We partied at a hotel after the dance. I smoked weed for the first time that night. We did sex, but I had already lost my virginity to him a few weeks prior. The next day, we all went out and had breakfast. It was fun.

I only paid $60 for my dress. It was/is beautiful. I got it at JC Penney's LOLOL. I doubt I'll look back at those pictures when I'm 40, see what I was wearing, and say to myself what the fuck was I thinking, which is impressive since prom dresses are getting uglier every year.

my first kiss was at 18 too. i don't know, i may not have that early kissing experience but my experiences have been MEMORABLE.

i used to be very embarrassed about not having kissed anyone till 18. i don't even know why anymore.

as for prom, i asked out a boy i had a HUGE crush on for junior prom. he said yes, then a few days later, said he couldn't. cause a prettier girl asked him to the prom. :/ so i stayed home and cried over my ugly a lot.

for senior prom, i ended up going with a gay friend who took an insane amount of e before prom and all he wanted to do was smell boys. yep. my best friend went to prom with my crush at the time and i spent all evening just wishing he was my date...

i took a dude i worked with which was cool, a bunch of us worked at hungry jacks at the time and we all took dates from there, so our dates weren't alone. i had my first pill and my date had his first trip and we spent the whole night laughing. few people got kicked out for drinking, and smoking weed under the tables. we had a cheesy dj for early and then later one of our friends played some dnb to finish the night off. after party was at a friends house where most of the guys got pushed into the pool in their suits. that was yr 11. i have since cut up the dress to use as a skirt and a top... think i've chucked it all now.

yr 12 started a little better, still no limo but we all got a double decker bus and went to the park before going to the hotel. i'd taken my sort of bf as a date... which was bad as he didn't really know anyone... and i spent my night in the toilet throwing up so he was pretty bored. poor dude. after party we had at a rowing club on the river, apparently everyone had a really awesome time and stayed until sunrise, there's all these beautiful photos of people on the balcony in ballgowns with the sun rising... but i'd already escaped home as i had to work the next day which was hell. oh and never saw that dude again.

always wished i could have gone to someone else's ball as well.

here in ireland we call the prom the debs. as in debutaunte ball or whatever. its always shit.

ive been to 6 or 7. my own debs was actually alright. i was going out with terrence but he was already going with grainne begley *shakes fist* so i took his brother patrick. ahh i love causing trouble.

i remember i wore a bronze satin monstrosity that i thought i was only gorgeous in. i wasnt. i looked like a fucking wrapped chocolate bar.

i came home three days later in a terrible state. dress ripped and covered in beer and god knows what else. i remember going to an early house the next morning and then going to little nigeria with about 20 people on the hunt for coke. after that i only remember some boys beating the heads off each other in some house in wicklow.

i went to my first debs when i was about 15 or 16. the dude i cant really remember but i remember that i was dancing to mr boombastic.
