It's sad seeing another childrens tv presenter falling fowl of drugs.

I used to love watching him on Smart. In fact, only Mark Speight and Tony Hart and good old Rolf Harris seemed to be the only presenters on shows like that who could actually draw!

i sent a picture in to tony hart back in the day. is he still alive? is neil buchanan still alive? where do childrens art presenters go when they die, mommy?

i grew up with british forces television in germany. in the five minutes before 5/6 o'clock (can't remember) they always had a short section where they read out kids' birthday cards, remember? like in regional tv. anyway, some chump from newsround did the british forces one. i never got a birthday card read out, but they DID show my "please send your cards to THIS address!" design. god, my child self was so delighted.

oh, i also sent a picture to timmy mallett. also rejected. itsy bitsy teeny weeny yellow polka dot bikini!

I loved it how the drawings he did started off looking like someone with parkinson's had been given a crayon but then through some sort of witchcraft formed into an awesome little piece of art.

i think all others alive and well but art attack is way too hard to follow-my son had an annual for xmas-you'd need a fucking account with the art shop and a week to make any of that shit. not good when a kids' attention span is about 68 seconds. we like mr maker now-at least the kids do-but mark speight was a good presenter-must be hideous to be in the public eye when your life turns to shit

that's a crazy way to do yourself in...oh yes, and I read that article...she also took cocaine, and sleeping pills and washed it down with booze...I mean you'd have to be damn wasted to get yourself in a bath of boiling water. I mean I just don't know how you get in a bath or boiling water on your own accord....crazy, depressed or whatever...how does one get to that point?

there are so many better ways to off ones self.

dude i don't think she boiled herself to death on purpose... sounds like she fell asleep in the bath with the hot water tap running. hot water doesnt need to be boiling to burn you, especially if you are lying in it. horrible way to go.

I don't agree, Brigend has had masses and masses of press attention; so much so that the it is the people OF Brigend that have asked for no more and to be left alone. Completely not a reasonable comparison.

Yes, it is newsworthy because he was on TV (he was a loved part of people's childhoods, maybe not yours but certainly millions of others), and because of the story leading up to his death. I'm not saying we should enshrine a national day of mourning, but it's not like it's difficult to understand why this is getting attention.

Anyway,yeah Mark Speight was talented but dabbling in drugs is dangerous and at his age he should have known better.
