the dinero you've set aside of your savings for your pleasure spendings.
Anyone set aside those spendings to a limit? Such as going out, buying CDs, getting snacks here and there..
I've given myself only a $100 allowance per week. Including cigs, which I have quit but started back up, going out and having a few, eating from roach coaches while I'm out and buying my small ocassional bit of weed to last me through the week.
It's pretty painfull not being able to buy some of the new releases out on dvd and cd, or not being able to buy some new clothes that catch my eye but, when I check my savings account, it's worth it. I feel secure.

i get paid monthly so i don't really work it out on a week to week basis.
its more a process ofL
PAY DAY: (pay all bills, buy an ounce and any large things i NEED)
week 1 of pay: party, party party. eat out, drink booze, go go clubs, catch taxis when i could catch the train. might spend $300 or so...
week 2 of pay: maybe go out, stick to the train, try and only buy a couple of dinners/lunches. might spend around $150
week 3 of pay: no going out. only spend money on lunches. no fun purchases. might spend $100
week 4 of pay: no going out. bring lunch from home. might spend $50 - $75.
week 4.5 of pay: put everything on credit.

oh, god. pffft. i don't know. you mean sans food and everything? hmm.
it's difficult - i've just got a decent pay rise (but bear in mind my wage before was really crap) but most of the difference is being used to pay off about £600 of outstanding bills (long story. not my fault).
i have a standing order which automatically puts £100 aside per month for a big purchase i am planning soon, but now i am getting more money i should save a bit more towards that.
so, in conclusion, any spare money i am saving because of this purchase. so i normally bypass any going out/buying clothes etc. saying that, i did buy mario kart yesterday. week in week out though, i probably wouldn't spend more than £15-20 a week on alcohol, take out, clothes, or other luxuries. i can't remember the last time i went to a club with the express intention of drinking and dancing. probably a year and a half ago
After I've paid off all of my bills and accounted for my variables I roughly have £500 - £600 a month of what I call danger money. It sounds like a decent amount but it never seems to last the entire month.

I have an almost completely disposable income, plus the many, many, many thousands of pounds in my account. I literally cannot spend my money fast enough.

I get paid every two weeks on the 1st/15th so I go by those dates. First comes bills on the 1st the big one is rent on the 15th the big one is car payment. Other than that I already have money alloted to go to my IRA and other retirment crap. So I pretty much just spend whatever after that. Most of my money these days is going to gas and lunch...I should learn to cook

It's according to where I'm at in my topsy turvy life. Last year and the year before I made crazy $ and went out crazy large style. When things are going good I try to spread it out bc of my silly belief in Karma. As of right now, I'm circling the wagons and don't go out to the bars that I used to frequent.
I don't really think about "my allowance" as a whole but I've been dead broke here before and don't want to revisit that hellhole. I live my life and do the things I enjoy still but have had to scale back on the 3somes, hotels, pot, ecstasy and having Grolsch beer delivered from the distributer(4 Case Minimum) to my home. Switching to headphones/internet on Friday night, vodka and cranberry juice and more bootleg movies/videogames. Silver lining to every cloud I guess
I have enough $ right now to slowly go broke here for about 5 years if there was no more income coming in and live exactly like I am right now. Fortunately, that's not the way I'm going to play my hand. I'm looking to buy a business==> But to find a business here for around $100K USD is usually a sinking ship or the return isn't what I'm aiming for.

oooh oooh! my husband and i just put ourselves on an "allowance" thing last month. sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.
$50 each for m-f. that includes lunches if we want to eat out. shopping (i've failed that on several weeks) and anything that could be taken care of at home.
gas and stuff like that doesn't count.
it's worked out well, we've saved a BUNCH of money this way.

I have a friend of mine that had 3 accounts set up:
1. His
2. Hers
3. Theirs
When he found out that she was buying herself watches with "Their" $ he went ballistic.
But what works for some doesn't necessarily work for others. He's a tightwad

we still share a bank account. not his and hers. we take cash out every week for our allowance.

Well I was going to post until hitmonlee posted EXACTLY THE SAME THING I WAS GOING TO SAY.
We are like twins.
So read this quote and substitute my name for hers. Except for buying an ounce, I get my weed for free

i'd say that i can spend between $600 and $800 a month total. this includes food/groceries and filling up the car once every 2/3 weeks.
lately though, i've been doing a ton of overtime, so i could spend a lot more. but i dont have the time or energy to go out and do so. but thats probably a good thing if i want to have money to get a house in the fall.

I usually budget through the week, and spend whatever on the weekend. My wife would disagree I'm sure.
I do go for lunch specials though, and I even change my own oil. :D

On payday weekends I splurge...hit the international magazine vendor and the independant record store, liquor store, ital deli, sometimes the cigar shop,do the take out or eat out thing, get the fade cut correct like Anthony Mason...it's all on the same block basically...then the next weekend tends to be pretty frugal...and this weekend is an off one....:(
