I know its "cool" to hate on Will Smith (and god knows everything involved in music after his TV show has been garbage) but DJ Jazzy Jeff & The Fresh Prince were a dope group. He's a solid rapper and they had a ton of really good songs. Summertime is my all time favorite summer song.

I dont mean commercial in that sense. I meant commercial where as everyone knows of the music. not merchandise tie ins or endorsements. But I do believe ADIDAS approached run dmc AFTER they wrote the song to help promote it.

you have to remember, many of the old school hardcore rappers didnt like being known as pop acts. they preferred to keep it real as much as possible and that meant keeping thier music on select stations, and not on top 40.

Damn right. Musically its not been great for a while but he still delivers well and is a bit cheesy but still funny and entertaining. His problem is that he is a prisoner of his own image and maybe he thinks he has to keep his rhymes within some sort of moral guideline. does that make sense? HE's always been pretty corny but funny.
