The mortgage company just changed their grounds because of all of the credit crunching going on her in the U.K.

I have to find £8,500 (min) as a deposit and there is no way that I can get that money without getting a loan. I don't want to get in debt to be getting into further debt. Man I'm pissed.

As if I need this right now
:(

i'm sorry camo : ( that's nuts.

my landlords are probably adding to this housing woe. apparently it's the buy-to-let people who are really in the shitter and making things go all wonky. they got our flat valued recently, i saw the documentation, they want to advertise it for £189,000 with a view for selling around £250,000  whaaat. that's more than 33% above the initial price. fuck that. GOOD LUCK!

deposits are the hard part. i would definitely not get a loan. i would only think about buying a flat if i earned, god, 5 more grand than i do now but anyway, if that happened i would have to rely on family loaning me a sum, and saving for the rest of the deposit. i think my grandparents are so keen to see us on the property ladder than they would do that for me. so i guess i am lucky. but pft, not going to happen any time soon /throws payslip into bin.

don't worry, another chance for a better place will come your way.

find a good mortgage advisor-surely they can find you a deal with the deposit all-in. i know things are a lot tighter but there are still decent deals out there. don't do debt if you can help it-when we bought our house 18 months ago i had to put all the solicitors fee on my c.card-still shifting it around now whilst i get it paid off!

thanks guys but I don't have any family to help and I was with a mortgage advisor already so it looks like I'm going to be renting again. Maybe it's a sign that I should move back to Manchester and be with my mates again?

Hopefully it'll all work out for the best.

Maybe that place had bad plumbing and bugs.

what about getting a secondary mortgage? one of those ones where you are paying that back for 3-5 years instead of 30 with the rest of the house?

for me, all of my overtime pay and that tax refund are going right to the house fund

That sucks dude :( Deposits are a hassle to get together sometimes. I thank my lucky stars mine is going through (still, touch wood) and I should be moved in next month. If you need a place to crash and don't mind the london - ooop north daily commute you have a spare room!!

hey camo-i heard someone on the radio yesterday talking 'bout the credit crrrunch and he did say if you looking to buy and don't have at least 10% deposit-forget it-so i guess renting is the way to go!! save your money for good times!! i got a big garden-you could pitch a tent to save some cash-very dull town unfortunately tho!!
seems to be a v british thing, our obsession with owning property-apparently a big percentage of people on continent rent (or maybe that was incontinent) whatever-don't stress

I blame Thatcher and my parents for instilling the 'MUST OWN PROPERTY' idea in my head

I've just signed a lease for a new apartment in a refurbished mill. It has a free gym, tennis courts and beauty parlour. It's like living in Butlins!
