I remember hearing about that too a while back and by chance I was thinking about it again the other day. I was trying to remember if it was just some bad editing on Wikipedia or if I read it in an article.

The chorus is growing on me, atleast sonically. It makes me think of old Weezer. But the lyrics in the verse especially are more than bleh. Atleast it's just the one song, I can't help but have hope for the rest of the album to be good, even though that hope was blown to bits with the past three "Weezer" albums.

Perfect video for Internet nerds :)
I even quite enjoy the song, something that hasn't happened to me with Weezer since Pinkerton.
The first 8 songs of the album have been available for a few weeks.

The entire album has leaked already, and I'm sortof liking it. Some bits are awesome, others are a bit 'meh'.
'The Greatest Man That Ever Lived' is an awesome track. It has pianos and a choir, and still rocks like a mofo.
And 'Everybody Get Dangerous' has a rap about not tipping cows because it makes them feel sad, and the word boo-yah! in the chorus. (y)

If it was a cry for attention there would have been a bigger promotional push (a la the one that happened with Make Believe) and the video would have been out long before now.
In fact Pork And Beans lyrics are about doing your own thing, what feels right to you...if memory serves Rivers Cuomo said he wrote it after being pressured by Geffen to put out another Beverly Hills-like hit.
It struck me as extremely original...but when you think about it, it's like them to do something like this.

I just don't know yet. I didn't bother with Make Believe after seeing how much people didn't like it and I've just gotten out of Weezer over time.
I've gone back and listened to Blue Album and Pinkerton this week and I really love those albums but I just don't think this album will be the type of music I enjoy now :(

I think I will eventually. Most of the bad reviews are basically saying, "What happened to them? They used to be so cool when they did Pinkerton."
Some of the songs and especially the lyrics that I have heard though.... It's just not that good, like it's being weird and or bad for no justifiable reason.

Looks like Pinkerton has that Paul's Boutique syndrome going for it.
I don't know anyone who liked it back than. Now all the "real weezer fans" come out of the woodwork and say they haven't liked anything since that album.
I personally like all of their albums. Some more than others obviously. They just have different sounds to them.

I like it overall, though I am not sure how I feel about the reference to Timbaland in Pork and Beans but I guess its funny if its meant to be ironic. Its kind of hard to tell after Beverly Hills.
There are a few other moments like that in the album I can't pinpoint at the moment but I'm listening to it right now so if I hear one, I'll post about it.
Btw, there are two songs where it seems to me someone else is singing. Has Rivers really released his vice-like grip on the songwriting and performance in this band?

Exactly...their first two albums while being incredibly different were perfect, at least in my eyes, but they'll probably never make another Blue or Pinkerton, though in my opionion they came pretty close with Make Believe.

i have no real interest in weezer and havent read much of this thread but i just wanted to say that even tho i find the band a bit meh, i just heard a track by them on zane lowe's show. no idea what it was called but it mentioned timbaland. I just wanted to know did he really sing "oakley make the shades that transform a tool"? If he did - fucking genius. If he didnt he should have.
