How are you liking the Netherlands so far? What's the weirdest thing you've seen?

And have you bought an orange outfit yet? It's queensday on wednesday. It's gonna be massively crowded in Amsterdam, so I'm going to stay the hell away from it. :p
I suppose it can be a strange experience for an American laydee. Everything, and I do mean EVERYTHING will be orange, and most people will be drunk by noon.
Hope you'll have fun.

Is it colder thanyou expected it to be?

I remember going there around this time of year a few years ago and it being surprised at how f'ing freezing it was, since it was springtime like everywhere else in the northern hemisphere. Then somebody splained to me about how since it's the 'nether' lands and low lying and all that, that arctic air comes down from the sea and just sets there. But I still had to go buy some warmer clothes.

There is orange everywhere already. I'm very excited. Walter said it will be a city wide yard sale! Rock! I don't have anything orange to wear, but I have my eye on an orange feather boa, very chic.
I'm slightly disappointed. I've only seen one trannie so far. Same as in Las Vegas when I went, only one the entire trip. Everyone says that's all you get for booking the discounted vacations.
So far I met tons of people, ate everything that couldn't run away fast enough, and well...what kll said.
I met one guy who was very excited to meet a Canadian. When I broke it to him that I was American, he grunted and walked away. Hahahaha! That was priceless.
I've seen tons of 'sights' but don't ask me to try to spell anything Dutch, or pronounce it for that matter. I mean, I can't talk good English even. I am picking up some Italian though as that is what Walter's family speaks at home. All of his friends envy me because I'm eating wonderful Italian food daily.
Walter is working working working but he will have the rest of the days that I'm here off after today. I pal around all day with his mom. We've seen every shoe and handbag in the city. It's been WONDERFUL.
There will be TONS of pictures.

I had no idea what to expect as far as the weather was concerned so I packed EVERYTHING. And that has worked out beautifully because a couple of days it has been cool-not cold but raining and windy, but over the weekend it was hot and sunny during the day. I was getting around in capries and a strappy top. I brought lots of sweaters that I can just pull on if the weather takes a turn. But even the locals have said that the weather has been unusually nice. Knock wood.

I was wondering whether you were there by any chance. I've been thinking of Amsterdam because of all the tulips coming up. I went to a tulip festival where I'm visiting, but it's nothing like where you are I'll bet.

Have fun! It sounds like such a great experience!

Are you moving there for keeps?
