Pretty mirthless, Robert. Even for you.

That album was the only thing that was mirthless.

2004 wasn't that long ago, geek.
I was wondering if Boss Hogg has found a way to get her sweaty sausage fingers on the upcoming album yet.

fuck yeah I bought TT5B the day it dropped. same thing with Hello Nasty. and no, I didnt feel like a geek. why would I? they promo'd both albums pretty heavily with the ole internet... Tower Records on Lafayette had a midnight release promo.
I must admit I felt a bit nerdy thinking we might get a "special appearance" to no avail...

I've bought every album except LTI on the day of release. Including one listening party for HN, and two midnight releases on CYH and IC.
No regrets. Wouldn't have it any other way actually.

Yep. the shame of it is that I went to Best Buy, because they had it for $9.99.
Sold it about two weeks later at a used store for $7 in trade, so I didn't feel like I was out too much.

I remember going to the record store the day before the album dropped to buy it. The clerk was like.."your really not supposed to be able to buy it today, but since you've called like 5 times, I'll do you a favor."..haha
The funny thing is, I had the entire cd burned a week before that and I listened to it on the way to the record store that day..haha
oh word!

I bought it the day it came out, when I asked the counter girl for a copy, she said "who?"

I called around every store in the yellow pages/internet the FRIDAY before it came out. I just asked if they had the new Beastie Boys album yet. The people who answered the phone:
a) didn't know the bboys were even coming out with an album
or
b) didn't know who the bboys were
After about 10 places, I found a store about 35 minutes away. When I asked, she just said, "yeah." :D(y) Went down there and copped it 4 days early. Supergeek.
Waited at Best Buy for HN in '98 too. They were giving away a 45 single of Intergalactic with Peanut Butter and Jelly on the b-side. There was actually some others there that day. Probably 30 people. They gave out 50. Probably still have it somewhere, but it's probably fucked up to all hell. Oh well.
The best part was waiting outside for it to open. Some old guy drives by and rolls down his window and asks me, "Are they givin' away Beanie Babies or something?" Damn, I thought. Bboy Beaniebabies would be sweet. Then the action figures came out.

I was managing a record store and had Friday off (the day stores receive new releases for Tuesday), my man called me when the shipment came in, and I went over... broke street date, stole the record from my own store and played it all weekend long... (y)
I attended a secret record release party a few weeks before it came out. It wasn't really a party, it was just me and two strangers I met off the internet huddled around a computer in a 1 bedroom apartment. Pootytang wouldn't stop calling me that entire weekend. LOLZ.

That was "The Mix Up," not "TT5B," dumbass. TT5B is where we filled CJ Hood's jacuuzi with mayo and jumped in with our flannel shirts and skull caps still on. Ahhh, the memories.
