3 years ago I was at a Mexican rooftop restaurant in Brooklyn.

It was dark outside. (http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y167/TAL73/US%20trip/night.jpg)

I love Mexican food and culture though I am not any part Mexican or hispanic by descent. I find it all very romantic and sexy. The music, the art, the colors, everything.

I missed our parade (http://www.mercurynews.com/ci_9152277?nclick_check=1) downtown Sunday.

For some reason I always think they'll celebrate Cinco de Mayo on the fifth.

Go figure.

Sho nuff. You can't miss it, the building is like a giant pink and green blob. Between that and the space needle I'm sure people think we Seattleites have no architectural taste whatsoever.

And, to be honest, I've never been in the museum part. I've seen lots of shows in the Skychurch and been to the bar plenty of times.

Well it is a Frank Gehry building, the same guy who did the Guggenheim in Bilbao Spain which I thought was awesome, the locals find it gaudy and tacky, but I guess they've never seen the E.M.P!!!...:D

Dorothy Wood

because people like to get drunk and mexican food tastes good.

I drank some of that new Bud Light Lime beer they have out now. It's pretty gross. I thought it would be funny. I ate some doritos too. I don't even like doritos!

this was the first warm cinco de mayo I've ever experienced in this city. one time I went with a bunch of friends to see the flaming lips at this festival called Rockin' De Mayo, and we were all like, "yeah! cinco de mayo! it's spring time! outdoor festival! yeah!" but it was like 40 degrees and none of us were wearing coats. it was awful! the flaming lips ruled though.

It was a kick ass battle against the French.

Yeah -- it's kind of sorry when the best you have to celebrate is whooping the French.

Still -- any excuse for a party!

as one of the resident mexicans on the board I figured I should share what I did in honor of Cinco de Drinko

I drank margritas
ate a mediocre burrito (I'm not in socal anymore, afterall)
and played GTA IV/Smash Brothers/Mario Kart all night

We did the hat dance with Senor Jose Cuervo and participated in the dramatic re-enactment of this scene, not sure which led to my abscence from work yesterday:

My Cinco de Mayo was good, though the place we went was packed with people who were obviously there to get drunk and try to hook up.

There were these people salsa dancing and it was so ridiculous. The place was packed, there was barely room to stand or move through the crowd toward the bathrooms and these people are spinning and throwing their arms around. It was all you could do to avoid having your drink spilled or a drink spilled on you.

Oh well, either way it was fun. I managed to keep down two shots of tequila over the course of the night without throwing them right back up. (y)
