I'm not quite sure if the beasties are into to rap anymore and are doing it on the new album just to please fans.I know myself i have lost interest rap apart from the beasties and wu tang clan.
in interviews they talk more about guitar based bands and reggae and dress more like indie bands i know there getting older but they could'nt have been more hip hop in 2004.

they don't do stuff which they want to do. it's really that simple.

I'm assuming you left out the word don't (before want) which besides totally changing your intended meaning made the sentence VERY hard to understand (love the irony!)

the beastie boys dont want to do what they do when they want to do what it is they are doing. its really that simple.

Damn man, I think they're fascinated by music and popular culture generally and from some of the artists they were name-checking last year (The Clipse, 50 Cent, Snoop, MIA) I think they're probably more into some of the harder stuff than I am. It looks like Adrock's always keen on new hip hop and the culture in general, Mike seems to have quite rounded musical tastes well rooted in the New York scene that gave birth to hip hop and Yauch seems the most rock/punk/dub dude, but I think they mix it up and basically DO WHAT THEY LIKE.

I think TMU was proof if it were needed that they don't do stuff just to please they're fans (or anyone else)

Questioning the Beastie's artistic integrity could be considered rude by some folk around here my friend.:(

...hopefully the album will come out soon, and I wouldn't mind seeing some solo albums...

Nah, I don't think they are going off with it. Hip Hop is their original place. Well, not THE original because of their early punk years. But.....well....you all got it.

what i enjoy about the Beastie's is that when ever they come out with an Album...it comes outta no where...i mean i read (magazines, literature, comics)...but i don't really see or happen to find anything on when there comin out w/ another album. If it's on the boards...i don't catch it....im here when i can be? It just kinda sneaks up on me and bites me in my buttocks!! ya know?!

I remember hearing Intergalatic for the 1st time....it was on my way home from work.... i was like this shit is the MAD NOTE!! Then i started recognizing the unique, ever-so talented, voices of the King Ad Rock, MCA, & Mike D.... im like did i miss something!? I then heard that infamous throwback insert that went, "mmMMM dRoppP" (sample from New Style). Is this song old or new?? A remix or archive? The DJ then announced that track is fresh of the Beastie Boys new LP, "Hello Nasty".

I with u abbott, gimme some more lyrics, Beastie's...fresh rhymes!!

The next album will sell...it could be ROCK, JAZZ, FOLK, COUNTRY, PUNK, BLUES, RAP, HIP-HOP, ELECTRICO,....ect. I don't care if it's them performing the "Stared Spangled Banner"...the Beastie Boys will make it happen, and I will strut my way to the store and buy me that FRESH COPY!!

ok in done...:p

whats wrong with that?
(Notice you don't have anything to say to E3's statement that what you said could be construed as being crazy offensive). Whatever, you don't need to have any love for me, you just have a crazy point- especially on the heels of the Boys all hip-hop album & tour in '04 & the crazy amount of old school they brought out on the mix-up tour. Wasn't a personal dig, so I don't know why you made it one- there just seems to be a LOT of evidence to support the opposite of what you said.
PEACE!

sorry
I just feel like sometimes people on these boards are always trying to make out there a bigger fan than you, when all you are doing is trying to start a new interesting thread.

Don't you remember the lyric from "Dropping Names"?

"Always updated on the hip-hop lingo..."
