...and I don't mean reunited bands: bands you thought were over and done with but have kept chugging away.
I'm stunned that this includes a-ha (http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p=amg&sql=11:difoxqw5ld0e~T2). Seriously. England keeps them afloat, apparently.

considering album sales, pretty much any band down through the history of time is getting back together and touring.
as for bands that have been going the whole time & keep putting out new material...
lots of bad punk bands continue to play. not that they are bad, but my buddy
said he saw cocksparrer flyers up when he was in england. sham 69 also still
plays, i believe, and i think UK subs are still around as well. i guess if you never
make any money then you don't get to retire.
on the a-ha note, squeeze recently played here.
....and coolio played the same venue just before.

i think cocksparrer actually takes years off at times and then has a tour. my husband is DYING to see them but when they play the states they only play a few places that are too far away. i'd love to see Sham 69.
oooh and SQUEEZE!

I have to buy the album atleast 200 times, and buy SO many tickets to there shows. But its worth the student loan, bursarys, grants and overdraft to keep them alive. MY life would be lost without them!

If original line up being intact is a factor it's gotta be:
Aerosmith

Sparks!? Wow.
There's hope for Black Oak Arkansas, then.
I saw the other day that Rush had a new album out. I went and checked and, yep, they've hung together all this time. That's a little
less surprising, though.

Nah -- they were without some guys for a few years. I can't remember if Joe Perry or Steven Tyler left -- I think it was Joe, 'cause there
was the Joe Perry Project for a while. Then they got back together for Done With Mirrors.
Brad Whitford might've left for a bit, too, 'cause he got with some Ted Nugent guy and there was the Whitford/St. Holmes album.

Nope, but Joe did start the Joe Perry project and they released "Rock in a Hard Place" without him but the music was all his, played by a sit in,they didn't even tour it...Whitford's been on every record...and yes,I had an Aerosmith thing in my youth...:D

Rock in a Hard Place is the seventh studio album by American hard rock band Aerosmith and was released in 1982 (see 1982 in music). This is the only Aerosmith album to not feature Joe Perry and the only album not to go playinum. Perry had left in 1979 while Whitford left in 1981, during the recording of this album. However, he's billed as an "additional musician" as he can be heard playing rhythm guitar on "Lightning Strikes."
I'll give it to you...and will now go post you Rush's latest masterpiece to add to your collection as a reward...(y)

Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, which I now have a current obsession with, I saw them live here last month in Seattle and they fawking blew down the arena.
Not only are they still together, their still relevant too, but that makes it even greater. Like Neil Young, Beasties, Petty and a few other bands the music is "Not for Sale" to the corporate world. These bands have kept the integrity and core values that instilled many of us to become fans in the first place.
That means something to me, it makes the fan relationship stronger knowing that a song I love is not going to sell beer or cars for some multi-conglomerate corporation.
Anyway back to the E Street Band and Bruce, just last night they played the Count Basie Theater (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/9/91/Basie_theatre.jpg) in Joisy, which seats 1,543 patrons. To the surprise of everybody involved it wasn't just a few songs and "see ya later" true to the legendary status this band deserves, they blew the doors off the place and did something they've never done before, they played the full Darkness on the Edge of Town Album in sequence, then the full Born to Run album in sequence and then a slew of other 70's songs afterwards.

I'm overly psyched because two weeks ago I received 5th row seats for the final show at Giants stadium July 31st. NYC here I come.

The Roots. In today's rap atmosphere the fact that a group that hasn't sold alot of records, never made a catchy single or ringtone, and has never really changed their sound to sell more records. The fact that throughout these years of different rappers who have gone platinum or had major radioplay and they're forgotten by next year and the roots are still around is unbelievable. The Roots still have a major label deal as well. The Roots are easily in my top 5 rap groups because unlike other rappers and rap groups, the Roots(like the Beasties) can be judged by their body of work and not their image.

sparks have been together 38 years. they release their 21st LP on the 12th.
And they're doing a 21 gig spell in London: one whole album for each gig!
It (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=3254211) starts on Friday, and I'd love to be there on at least five of those nights!
(And just noticed they're playing in Helsinki in a months time as well...
When they've played here the last couple of times I couldn't afford
the tickets as I was unemployed at the time, and it really really bugs me!)
