Eyes changing color

is the most annoying thing I have ever had to research due to an argument.

Every girl in the world seems convinced that her eyes change color when she's mad or sad. Every single article about it seems to be 99% personal accounts and .015% scientific research.

I say eyes don't change color beyond babies going blue to brown or hazel or whatever when they get older. What do you say?

do they have hazel coloured eyes? see what it says under hazel on the wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eye_color). also - look at aniridia! woaaah nelly! it says further down that "..even in adults, eye color changes are seen, most often as a result of exposure to the sun."

Mine look either green or blue depending on what color shirt I'm wearing, but they don't "change color" per se.

yeah females always seem to believe stupid bullshit like this. they may appear to look different in different lighting, and throughout someone's lifespan the colour may vary due to sun exposure. but they do not turn blue when you're in love or some shit. god.

The only thing I'll even begin to accept is that with extended sunlight exposure the melanin in your iris changes color in a similar way to your skin tanning.

I don't know, sometimes its pretty and sometimes its just weird looking. I've had people tell me my eyes are cool and others tell me they're too piercing. Oh well, there isn't a whole lot I can do about it. I always wanted brown doe eyes.

strangest thing - i have dark brown hair, right?... sometimes when i get stuck in the rain, my hair goes totally black! this other time i fell into a pool, i was so mad my hair turned jet black! whoa! i was so pissed, it changed my hair color! and this other time, such a nice day outside, so bright and sunny... i was so happy, my hair looked medium brown, red even! crazy!

oh! another time i was at church, i felt so close to god, i decided to sit by this awesome stained glass window, i felt god's presence so deeply my hair turned blotchy red, blue, green and yellow! the weird thing is that when i turned my head, it was like the colors shifted! god really was there that day.. i could feel it

I have NEVER seen eyes change colour, nor have I heard any girls ever mentioning it.

My eyes do look different though when I've just woken up, or when I'm ill. There seems to be a darker edge around it. But that's probably because I've had my eyes closed for a while and they have to adjust to the light.

I've also never heard of this. It's pretty ridiculous, and very unscientific.

I understand that eyes can appear different, but mood would not affect the color.

My eyes are olive green, or greenish hazel I guess. sometimes they look greener, sometimes they look brownish yellow.

my eyes really have any category such as blue, green, brown, etc.

They're a mixture of yellow around the pupils and greenish blue in the iris.

People have told me that my eyes change color. Everytime they did, they were in the same frame of mind as I was.

I dunno, I find it hard to believe that your eye color wouldn't be affected by your mood or physical state. I mean, its a part of your body, right? Other bodily functions are affected by moods. Heart rate, respiration, skin color (blushing, reddening due to overexertion, etc.) all change according to fear, anger, anxiety, embarassment, etc. Why not eye color?

because iris colour is determined by the amount of melanin. that's like saying your hair would change colour when you're in different moods.

Besides, hair is dead when it grows out of your scalp right? Eyes are not.
