as reported by www.mic-to-mic.blogspot.com:
"According to the press notes handed out to the media at the Filmmaker Talks event at the Apple store in Soho, Yauch's basketball documentary contains a new Beastie Boys song titled 'Bass Line Is Nice.'"
Most likely an instrumental that didn't make TMU, but ya never know with the bboys, ya know?? Even more excited now!!!

Could that thing playing in the background of the Kevin Love snippet. I think it's likely it is, actually.

And LOL @ the "wah wah wah" editorialising of that stupid fucking blog. Arrogance and presumption about what "the fans" want will never go out of style, it seems. (y)

Was this a different Q&A from the apple store joint? Cause I don't remember hearing that there & I certainly don't remember seeing that it came out of anyones mouths connected to the band/movie. just wondering.

i'm pretty certain tribeca q&a = apple store q&a b/c it was for the tribeca film festival. i don't remember hearing that either, but apparently it was in the press packets.
for what it's worth, after they played the first clip (i recall it was beasley) yauch commended the apple store for their nice subwoofers & said it's good that apple appreciates bass . . . does support the theory that the bass line was his own.

Was this a different Q&A from the apple store joint? Yes, this was the one at the screening of GFT#1S right after it played. He addressed it in his opening comments and again when asked who chose the music for the movie.

I'm talking about the Q&A that happened on premier night at the Performing Arts Center right after it was screened. I wrote about it in my review of the movie here http://www.beastieboys.com/bbs/showthread.php?t=83175&page=2
I can't remember his exact words or whether he'd said it in his opening remarks (where he did mention that there was new music by them in the movie) or when he answered the question about who chose the music, but I'm certain he said they hooked their shit up and recorded it fresh for the movie. Yauchster, can you verify or deny?

It's posts like these which make you an exceptional contributor (y)
The negativity on that blog is, at times, unbelievable. The way I see it, if you're a fan, you track down information. I neither want or expect the Beasties to hand out every little bit of info on everything they are doing.
What's more, I have never read an official announcement promising fucking anything at all. It hardly sounds like a brand new song anyway, just something Yauch threw into the mix when sountracking his documentary. It's not like there's a new Beasties single coming out, there may not even be a soundtrack. So all that announcing the fact that there's a new tune on the documentary would do is plug an unrelated Beastie Boys project. Fair enough really.
Mic to Mic isn't about supporting the Beastie Boys. It's about supporting Mic to Mic and brainwashing fans into thinking they're being cheated or mistreated, or some other ridiculous notion along those lines. The censorship only proves this point further.
I didn't care about this new single either way until Mic-2-Mic told me I should be upset about not being told about it. Now I'm pissed. Thanks M2M.

In the latest issue of MEAN magazine, Yauch says, "There's a Beastie Boys in there, some instrumental stuff. There there are a few other pieces that are things I worked on."
it's at the top of triple J music news right now:
Beastie Boy Adam Yauch has made a film documentary titled Gunnin' For That #1 Spot.
It tells the story of 8 guys who are all playing in a high-school basketball competition, looking towards a future in the NBA.
The doco has been screened at a New York festival and it'll get a theatre release at the end of June. The soundtrack features Jay-Z, the Notorious B.I.G., Nas and a brand-new, yet-to-be-released track from the Beastie Boys called Bass Line Is Nice.
nothing new.
