converting picas & points to inches...HELP?

Oh dear god...I don't get it. I'm terrible with numbers and measurements. can someone help me..gimme a crash course?

I need to know what 8 x 5.25 inches would be in picas/points. I'm using Word. I'm not even sure if the p in word is refering to pica or point.

Erm, sorry, I was making sure I had my numbers right.

1pixel = .5pts or .04 picas

1 pica =.166 inches

well I got it all desgined, but for some reason my graphics (gif/jpeg) won't print. they look fine in print preview, but disappear on the actual printed page.

now what did I do wrong?????

Fucking MS WORD is the WORST possible program I could be creating this in. but my boss is too cheap to get illustrator. of course if he wants to do more and more of these graphics things he's gonna have to.


I be frusterated.
