I often wear my collar up on my polo shirts and so did one of my heroes, the great Eric Cantona.

I don't care if you think I look like someone in an American clothing catalogue?

popped collar automatically = fucking wanker/tool/douchebag.

We've had many threads on this matter where I've made my feelings known.

I should add that when girls do it its ok. well, semi ok.

exactly. Some prat of a photographer came bouncing into the studio at lunch. His collar was popped and he sat there and did his pitch for some work. He was loud and loved talking about himself. A complete nonce. He won't be getting any work from us.

I think this is faulty logic.

It is not the collar up that is the problem. It is the people wearing those polos with the collar up that tend to be tool bags.

I don't mind the collar up, and I do occasionally rock it myself. But I do agree that many of the people who do choose to wear that style on a regular basis tend to be doush bags just following the latest trend.

true, it does go hand in hand.

Like Paddy I used to wear my united collars up a la Cantona but not on a casual polo shirt.

Another douche bag fashion here in the uk are 'allsaints' belts. Brown belts with studs that say allsaints or jesus rocks. (n)

What about guys with popped collars who sit down to pee?

I think people who do it every single time they wear a polo shirt because they think it will make them look cool are bellends. If I do it it's usually because my collar is fucked up and I can't be arsed to iron it or to shield my neck from the sun or just because I feel like it.

Basically it's all about how much thought you put into it.

Polo shirts are for chumps anyway, regardless of collar elevation.

Gimme some good ol' fashioned v-neck lovin' any day, jeeeaaahhhhhh baby (y)

my collar is popped today, but I'm not wearing a polo shirt. it's a girly version of a plaid men's dress shirt. I am also wearing a red sweater vest! am I in trouble?

I will agree that popped collars imply a certain level of douchebaggery, but it depends on the person. sometimes it looks kinda cool though. :/

I know a couple people at work that pop their collars. It does look lame. Because it's such a deliberate, recent fad.

My nephew wears popped collars and has a Brooklyn Fade to boot.

Yesterday I just looked at him and said "DISGRACIATA" and spit on the ground in his direction.

I don't mind popped collars, but it really just depends on the person wearing it, I guess.

There was a thread just like this a while ago and I was all bullshitting in it.

You don't understand what you're getting yourself into over a popped collar discussion here.
