I definately think that it's now acceptable to make comments about homosexuality under the guise of "being ironic", etc. I don't think it's acceptable to call crap things "gay", for obvious reasons, but you will hear sensible people defend that sort of thing. It makes me depressed when a read coments like that last quote, partly because the thinking behind it, that suggests that being "gay" is a terrible thing to be, but manly it's just very lazy, and unfunny mostly, and makes you look a bit of a hateful fucker.

homophobia turns me off. I had two friends in college who were best friends with each other, in fact we all took a trip together after graduation...and about 6 months after our vacation one of the women came out as a lesbian. her"best" friend flipped out and wouldn't talk to her anymore. So fucking stupid. Her friend didn't change, she's still same person, except now she's open about being attracted to women. big whoop. So many other problems in the world to solve...and people being gay isn't one that needs a solution. accept it.

Many of the people I know think that being approached by, or associated with, a gay person says something about their own sexuality. I get jokes all of the times because I don't get offended when a gay man hits on me. I guess that sometimes people are insecure about themselves (or so opposed to the idea of homosexuality) that they feel like they are challenged by homosexuals. I am pretty much flattered any time someone hits on me, and in my experience gay men open the door to a virtual treasure trove of women seeking men who are not threatened by homosexual men.
