would I be wrong, or off in some way in saying that I think the the Beastie Boys could be and are the closest thing to being the "Rolling Stones" of rap music?
Don't get me wrong, I know that they are known for much more than rap, but rap is what really made them popular in the beginning, by beginning I mean like '85. And I know that they formed even before then but, I guess I just like the undertone of the idea that they have come so far, and grown up over the years and keep going and going and growing as artists, probably even in a better more mature way than even the "Stones" themselves.
I know that a lot of people on here will not like this comparison, but it does (for me) explain, not define the Beastie Boys, as pioneers and as a staple in the rap genre.
just a thought
